No banker wants to lend money with the expectation of having to realize on the collateral in order to recover the capital. At the best of times, it's expensive, time consuming, and it takes time away from making new loans that you're going to be repaid on. At the worst of times, you fail to cover your capital costs, plus legal expenses on the recovery and you've wasted a lot of time that could have been better spent, in the process.

I think the amount of the penalty is too high! Though I do understand how the judge came to the number.

I think trump will likely get the libel amount reduced on appeal.

His problems now, is because Trump is untrustworthy in the banking and business world, and known for not paying his bills in full, and not known for following court orders either.... Loaning him cash, is a HUGE RISK for any lender. That makes it hard for him, an alleged very rich billionaire to find a backer.

The DOJ or the Court's rulings, is not causing or creating Trump's woes.
