The Republican party wrecked the Republican party. Had they not the Trump campaign never would have gotten off the ground. Enough Republicans, conservatives, independents, some crossover Democrats, et al told the Republican party where to stick their candidates based on past party performance and an offering of retreads, has-beens, and other losers to do battle against the (now confirmed) crooked Clinton machine/DNC apparatus and their many cohorts in the lamestream media.
