trump losing opinion in shutdown....Bigly

Trump hasn't lost favor with me, and I'd vote for him again in a New York minute.

Go President Trump!

Are you considered "essential government personnel" and working for free until the government reopens so you can get your back pay? Some of the people in the lower ranks with families live paycheck to paycheck, and compounding that on top of Christmas bills is gonna be kinda rough.

Here’s what my son, lower rank of military, has to say. Sent to me in a text this morning.

So how us he spending his 10% raise?

He has four kids. Im sure he will find a way to spend it.

All 10%? Really?

Which is another top lie...
How do you figure 'Democrats want open borders' is a lie?

Obama, like many Democrats, is a globalist and cared little for US sovereignty. Despite voting for securing the borders in 2007 he, as usual, went back on his word. During his Presidency he refused to fully enforce existing US Immigration law, created a new 'Right' for Illegals only be instructing the DOJ not to arrest / charge / indict / convict illegals for crimes less than a felony, armed Mexican Drug Cartels, protected human traffickers, allowed MS13 to infiltrate the borders, opposed laws like Kate's Law that protected Americans, and supported / funded Federal Law-violating sanctuary cities.

Barry used to help bring illegals into the US and would then dump them in communities throughout the US without warning local and state agencies they were coming....and recently Democrats have been calling for the elimination of ICE, the 2nd largest law enforcement division in the US responsible or protecting Americans against Illegal invaders / criminals.

As Democrats choose to stand with violent illegals instead of Americans they were elected to represent to shut down the govt for THEM, the blood of Americans murdered by illegals is on their hands.....

Democrats OWN this:

Sheriff: Suspect in killing of California police officer in US illegally

What is the new house going to do to address the debt problem?

So all of a sudden you're worried about the debt? You must be a republican run it up and then blame someone else. Don't even go back to obama I know what he did and it was unacceptable too but you republican's have not did one thing to lower it you just like to add to the problem then blame those damn dems.

The Democrat socialists latest lie is that Americans want unlimited immigration of the worthless.

The next one, they will have to wait if shutdown carried over into 2019.

How a Government Shutdown Will Impact the Military Community

Military Pay
government-shutdown-300x169.jpg

The 1.3 million service members affected would, in the event of a government shutdown, continue to be required on duty and operate normally at first. But paychecks would be delayed if the government shutdown lasts beyond the next pay date following the shutdown.

Congress could pass legislation that would require the military to be paid in the manner they were during a shutdown in 2013; “Military personnel will not be paid until such time as Congress makes appropriated funds available to compensate them for this period of service,” according to the DoD.

During the last shutdown many financial institutions that support current and former servicemembers offered advanced pay or assistance. USAA has already made an announcement and other military-affiliated financial institutions are anticipated to do the same. Check with your financial institution.

Banks

Military friendly banks will often offer a no-interest, 0% Annual Percentage Rate (APR) payroll advance to military personnel with existing direct deposit at USAA. Banks will provide a onetime payroll advance loan to cover pay or benefits to the following groups, as long as those payments are direct deposited at the bank:

  • Active duty
  • Guard and Reserve
  • Military retirees
Policies vary by bank so always check with your bank to see if they have any special contingencies or offers for government shutdown occurrences.

Retired & Survivor Benefit Plan Pay

Military Retirees and Survivor Benefit Plan recipients would, in the event of a shutdown, still receive their pension checks as the funding for these benefits is NOT tied to Congress’s funding bill. After previous shutdowns, Veteran Affairs lobbied Congress to fund the VA on a two-year budget cycle which exempts the department.

“The VA is in a fortunate situation in that we have what’s called an advanced appropriations so we get our money a year ahead of time because I think Congress understands that the VA can’t shut down, that we are there for the safety of our veterans.” said former VA Secretary David Shulkin.

VA Disability Pay, GI Bill Benefits, SGLI Payments

Similar to retiree pay VA disability, GI Bill benefits and SGLI payments will continue. However support for claims and assistance may be limited.

My Career Advancement Accounts

Financial assistance requests will be continue to be approved. In addition, Spouse Education and Career Opportunities career coaches will continue to be available to provide comprehensive education and career counseling services.

Thrift Savings Plan

The TSP will continue its normal daily operations during a federal government shutdown. Read the TSP fact sheet Effect of Nonpay Status on Your TSP Account to get answers to questions about the shutdown’s impact on TSP contributions, loans, and withdrawals.

Death Gratuities

Families for troops killed in action would not receive the $100,000 death benefit during the shutdown or military funded travel for funeral or memorial services.

Coast Guard

The Coast Guard is the only branch of the military whose members will go without pay during the government shutdown unless there is a resolution by Friday, December 28th. Approximately 42,000 active-duty military members of the Coast Guard will work without pay, until further notice, during the partial government shutdown. The Coast Guard is the only part of the military under the Department of Homeland Security, rather than the Department of Defense which continues to be funded during the shutdown.

Military Reservist

US military reservists training will be canceled during the shutdown.

DoD Civilians

“Civilian employees paid for lapsed appropriations and who are not necessary to carry out or support excepted activities will be furloughed, i.e., placed in a nonwork, nonpay status” according to the DoD. The Department of Defense employs approximately 750,000 civilian personnel. Employees being furloughed and not receiving back pay include military spouses, retirees and other veterans.

Contracted Personnel

Existing personnel contracts signed and appropriated would continue, but new contracts would not be executed.

PCS & TDY

Permanent change-of-station moves and temporary duty travel is subject to cancellation except for activities determined to be essential to national security.

Healthcare

Military treatment facilities, pharmacies, laboratories and on-base healthcare will remain open and treatment will continue. However, routine appoints and elective surgery appointments will be cancelled and need to be rescheduled. Private sector Tricare will not be impacted by the shutdown nor would medical care for wounded servicemembers. The VA healthcare system including hundreds of hospitals and outpatient clinics will remain fully operational.

Care Packages, Armed Forces Network

During the last shutdown care packages were held back in some regions as well as Armed Forces Network Channels due to reduced staffing. These services and other comfort services may be reduced or cutoff again.

Commissaries, Exchanges, MWR

Military exchanges will be open worldwide.

Military exchanges will be open worldwide.

Morale, Welfare and Recreation programs, non-appropriated fund activities and other operations necessary to support those activities not affected by a shutdown would continue. Examples of these excepted activities are operation of dining facilities, physical training and child care activities required to support readiness.

Stateside commissaries will follow an orderly shutdown to reduce the amount of perishables on hand and properly safeguard equipment and facilities. Overseas commissaries will remain open, including two stores in Guam and one in Puerto Rico. Commissaries in five remote stateside locations also remain open: Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center Bridgeport and Fort Irwin in California; Coast Guard Station Kodiak and Fort Greely in Alaska; and Dugway Proving Ground, Utah.

You haven't heard such a drop off from me.

The Democrats' plan to drag the US kicking and screaming back to Obama era policies that forced manufacturing plants / jobs to flee the country, to over-regulation that choked the life and ability to grow out of businesses, and to Obama era unemployment numbers, which resulted in record numbers of Americans going on tax dollar funded social programs will not help the economy to grow...or even to stay as-is. They will cause the economy to decline back to Obama era status.

One can hardly argue with the success that Trump's and the GOP's policies, elimination of regulations, and tax cuts brought about; however, I fault the GOP - all politicians - for, after having collected more tax revenue than at any time in US history as another result, none of that 'surplus' / 'extra' tax revenue went to paying off the debt. Just because you find more in your pay check doesn't mean you should spend more - you should use some of that 'extra' money to ay down the debt.

IMHO...

What is the new house going to do to address the debt problem?
So all of a sudden you're worried about the debt?
Actually, the Democrats said THEY were...so, when / how fast is the new Pelosi-run House going to address the debt problem?

They will control the budget, US government spending, the economy, and the debt.....

We shall see since both parties talk out both sides of their mouths. At 70 I gave up caring anymore if either side quits spending. As prices of everything goes up in the next few years so the spending will have to also.

Barry's $1 trillion 'Jobs' Bill - the Stimulus Bill - contained over 7,000 pieces of DNC-Only pork and ended up costing tax payers approx. $774,000 PER JOB Obama claimed to have created / saved (according to the CBO).

If the politicians who START the wars had to be the 1st ones to step onto the battlefield we would have far fewer wars, and if the politicians who play these games / fail to pass budgets / cause these shutdowns were the 1st ones to have their pay held up we would not run the risk of these govt shutdowns.
