Trump on immigration, 14th amendment: the "Votemaster" strikes again!

Trump mentioned "the children of illegals". The 14th Amendment doesn't cover kids who enter our Country illegally with or without their parents. What if Trump has the culyones to challenge the intent of the 14th Amendment? Democrats challenge the intent of the 1st and 2nd Amendments every day.

Trouble is, we can't apply that new interpretation retroactively.

If a fresh interpretation by SCOTUS can (1) leave its past impact intact, and (2) change its impact in future, then... sure.

If not, a fresh Amendment might be required, to rescind the 14th, and (1) confirm its past impact, and (2) change the rules for the future.

If any such Amendment were to be attempted, it would probably have to come in the first years after an Illegals-hostile Administration came into power.

... or educational or medical or other services......

You can't do that one. The Supreme Court has already ruled on this.
Then we'll just have to resubmit and get another ruling, eh? Perhaps after packing the court with one or two fresh justices of a more sympathetic nature.

Plenty of ways to skin that cat, and, say-hey, and let's not forget...

If a Democratic President can issue an Executive Order to ignore US Immigration Law...

Perhaps a future President can issue an Executive Order to ignore a particular Supreme Court ruling...

As an interim measure, anyway, until the Court can attain that more favorable balance...

"Mister Marshall has made his decision. Now, let him enforce it."

If nothing else, a delaying action might be fought in the courts, to accomplish the same thing, using a little imagination and resolve...

Tilting at windmills...and the wrong ones at that.

...Tilting at windmills...
Perhaps, but it be sumfin' to do, and it's tilting in a worthwhile cause, judging by recent interest on the part of the American People... and, ya never know until ya really try.

...and the wrong ones at that.
Hardly. One of several windmills that need considerable attention. One thing at a time. This is as good a place to start as any.

what kind of idiot thinks the Left is on the right side of the ILLEGAL immigration issue?
80 percent of Americans want illegals to be provided legal status and/or a path to citizenship. So...yeah. The Dems are on the side of the Will of the People on immigration.

just idiotic. i already provided another poll on this same thread that says the opposite of what you're citing

Doubtful.

80% of Americans have given up on enforcing our Immigration Law, and grew tired of fighting, when their own government would not fight for them in this context.

It's called 'exhaustion of resistance' and 'path of least resistance' and not wanting to be branded 'racist' or 'xenophobe' by Pro-Illegals types, rather than actually wanting this.

Now that one or more Presidential candidates are actually showing some backbone on the subject, we can expect that 80% to evaporate like a fart in the wind.

I suspect that the fun is only just beginning, in this context.

Enjoy.

what obama is proposing is amnesty; period.
when you identify it as what it actually is; a clear majority oppose it.

...Self deportation is what Romney called it and he was attacked from all sides...
Yep.

But that was the 2012 election cycle, and this is 4-years later, with a fresh and highly aggressive banner-carrier to push the idea much more vigorously.

One of the more amusing aspects of Trump's campaign is that he calls-out lobbyist influence, like lifting a rock and exposing the disgusting bugs underneath.

I think that vast numbers of Americans have stopped caring about the immigration issue because neither party has been willing to actually undertake the harsh measures to repel the existing invasion and to establish conditions required to discourage future waves of invaders from trying the same thing.

I also think that vast numbers of Americans would support such harsh measures if they saw evidence that political leadership was finally ready to get off its dead ass and to do what is needed to beat-back the invasion and to prevent future ones.

THAT is why a dangerous fellow like Donald Trump is doing so well in the polls; because he is perceived as willing to do just that.

If any other more mainstream candidate could bring him-or-herself to adopt a Trump-like ( Trumpian?
omg_smile.gif
) answer to the Illegal Aliens situation, they could probably sweep the primaries and would stand a decent chance at winning the general election.

Today, "Immigration Reform" = codespeak for "Shamnesty" - Americans understand this, and are goddamned sick-and-tired of it, and want an end to it.
The counter is that the more successful we get at controlling the borders, preventing illegal hiring and deporting, the higher the rate of inflation will be as we decrease the numbers of low payed undocumented employees.
Close the borders and deport all the undocumented or make it extremely difficult for them to find work and the inflation hits immediately and we will see huge increases in those inflation rates. With reform the inflation still comes, but it is slower and spread over time. Any way you look at it and whatever method we use, we will be terminating a source of low income workers that have been a key in our economy for over a half a century.
I am curious as to how Americans will react when they see the increased inflation, especially in some specific industries, as the "illegal immigration" problem is resolved.

Only social plans from the Capitalist of the Right? Where is our business plan in Commerce, well regulated, that will "earn" multibillion dollar bonuses for the People with their money?

why do you idiots insist on believeing in equal outcomes for everybody rather than equal opportunities?
that is your red herring the left knows social Darwinism's bad influence on capitalists who have not acquire and possessed a social clue or social Cause due to socialism socializing those (other Peoples', capital) costs.

Only more socialism from the allegedly, capital Right?

We have a Commerce Clause. Why are we losing money on Commerce at our borders?

It is worth the price.

Let's put it to the test.

We have become too dependent upon such labor.

We did just fine without them prior to that time.

We'll do just fine without them after we get this squared away.

We may suffer a bit in the short-term, but the prize (regaining control of our borders, stemming the flow of illegals, etc.) is worth the transitional pain.

...I am curious as to how Americans will react when they see the increased inflation, especially in some specific industries, as the "illegal immigration" problem is resolved.
Dunno.

Let's put it to the test and find out.

If we will be facing some pain during and following the transition, then, the sooner we begin, the sooner we get this over with.

Time to try.

And then we'll see whether the forecasts of doom-and-gloom are anywhere NEAR the post-facto Reality.

Our sovereignty and empowering ourselves to close the door are worth the risk.

Let's party... time to rock-and-roll... let's do it.

A poll going back two years, right up to February 8 of this year:

Immigration

209n582.jpg

Legal status or citizenship is 59 + 19 = 78 percent.

"Deport them" = 18 percent. They are on the losing side, big time.

Poll Roundup Majority of Americans Support Immigration Reform With Citizenship

Gallup
June-July 2013

  • 88% of Americans support allowing immigrants to become citizens
  • 83% of conservatives support allowing immigrants to become citizens
Plenty more evidence in the link.

On immigration, Republicans favor path to legal status, but differ over citizenship

25thutv.jpg

What Americans Want From Immigration Reform in 2014

62% of Americans favor providing a way for immigrants who are currently living in the United States illegally to become citizens provided they meet certain requirements, while 17% support allowing them to become permanent legal residents

The Republican response:

Only 13 percent of Americans favor passing immigration reform without a path to citizenship for illegals.

good one stupid, but maybe you shouldnt provide the links so people can actually read them. you cited the one with the lowest deport opinion. another one has favoring deportation almost double that 18%. Yet another one shows MORE THAN DOUBLE, 42% FAVORING DEPORTATION.

Again, I agree almost entirely. The only thing I disagree with is anything that includes mass deportation done immediately and without alternatives for persons who have led crime free lives. My opinion is giving current undocumented a chance of staying and earning legal status would lesson the shock of the inflation, resolve problems like what to do with children born here, recoup investments we have made in educating both undocumented children and offspring of undocumented and other problems that would be caused by a massive deportation policy.

In every poll, in every case, the majority of Americans favor legal status/citizenship over deportation. Support for deportation peaks only when legal status is off the table, but it is still in a minority.

When the choice is between citizenship and deportation, deportation still loses.

When the choice is between citizenship, legal status, and deportation; support for deportation falls off dramatically. 80 percent support citizenship or legal status.

Republicans are ignoring the will of the people.

I see. So Republican only heed the will of the people when polls agree with their point of view.

This means we can ignore any whining they ever make about the will of the people since they are clearly being hypocritical.

As for making polls say what you want to say, that is precisely why I included links to multiple scientific polls which have long established reputations.

Do you think there is a widespread conspiracy among pollsters to all come out with the same result showing 80 percent of Americans support legal status or citizenship? Really?

Nice try. FAIL.

do you think that deportation poll number is likely to go up or down as more stories come out of illegals killing American cities in liberal-run sanctuary cities?

obama has released literally thousands of criminals, many hardcore ones. others are in sanctuary cities getting sanctuary from the federal government when libs wont turn them over; like the one that killed the lady in San Francisco

you're the one failing dummy
