'Trump was never in danger': Shooting reported near ex-president's Florida golf club​

The Trump campaign reported former President Donald Trump was safe after hearing "gunshots in his vicinity."

Law enforcement sources told the New York Post that there was a shooting "near" Trump as he was leaving his golf club in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Sunday afternoon.

"Two people exchanged gunfire outside of Trump International Golf Course West Palm Beach," the report said. "The shooters were targeting each other, and the gunfire was not targeting Trump."

The report also confirmed that "Trump was never in danger and that the shooting happened in an area outside the club that is known for high crime."

In a statement, Trump Campaign Communications Director Steven Cheung said the former president was "safe."

Despite reports that Trump was not a target, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) falsely claimed the shooting was "ANOTHER ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT!!!"

Supporters of former President Donald Trump flocked to his Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach on Saturday night following a shooting at Trump's Pennsylvania rally earlier in the evening.

Dozens of people (I say Losers), lined the Southern Boulevard causeway between West Palm Beach and Palm Beach. Some carried U.S. flags and large flags bearing slogans of Trump's 2024 campaign. Others carried signs showing their support for Trump. Many were dressed in red, white and blue attire. One group wore motorcycle vests that said, "Born to Ride for 45 Donald J. Trump."

The district attorney for Butler County, Penn., where the rally was held, confirmed to the press that a member of the audience and the shooter were dead. Another person was seriously injured.

In Palm Beach, parking lots along the causeway were packed with Trump supporters' vehicles, and Palm Beach Police officers stood guard next to Mar-a-Lago, a National Historic Landmark in which the former president has his primary residence.
