Trump threatens to shut down farms.

add farmers to the list of voters who will shun Trump.

By ALL measures China is being hurt more than the US by this and what do you suggest that we return to the status quo where China was at war with us and we didn't even know it?

I made that OP with easy in mind. LOL

Actually, a more honest title might be pressure grows on Trump to wrap up the China trade dispute. And that may not be good news for getting China to stop stealing intellectual property

Farmers nearing crisis push back on Trump trade policies

I'm sorry that trump's economic policies are hurting farmers so much. They feed the nation and help feed the world. They shouldn't be the pawns in trump's irresponsible economic policies.

However, they voted for this. They're getting what they voted for.

Those of us who eat the food they grow didn't vote for it but we are also paying for it with much higher prices for goods and services.

It doesn't stop at farmers. It's a whole domino effect. Farmers can't buy equipment or goods because they don't have the money for it and the price of the product is too low to have profits. Thus those industries see lower revenues and a snowball effect leads to lost jobs and lay offs.

I find it very ironic that the same people who scream how evil socialism is are now very much dependent on socialism to get them through trump's very irresponsible trade and economic policies. They have their hands out for federal tax dollars which is socialism. That's on top of all the socialism they already get from the farm bill.

The farmers who were hurt by our tariffs were targeted by China in a vain attempt to pressure him into ending his demands for China to end the theft of US intellectual property and its restrictive laws preventing US companies from operating freely in Chinese markets, but China has apparently abandoned that tactic.

CHINA is back buying more US soybeans just days after the last round of purchases by the world's top importer.

State-run buyer Cofco Corp bought almost 1 million tonnes of the oilseed, while Sinograin purchased more than a million tonnes, the two companies said in separate statements on Tuesday. That follows an announcement on Saturday that they had purchased 2 million tonnes from America after officials from the two countries met in Washington for trade negotiations.

On Monday, the Chinese state-run companies were seeking soybean for shipment from both ports in the US Gulf and the Pacific Northwest, according to people familiar with the matter, who asked not to be identified because the information is private. The cargoes sought were for shipment around the summer months, the people said.

American exporters sold 2.603 million tonnes of soybeans to China for delivery by Aug 31, the US Department of Agriculture said on Tuesday. That's the third-largest daily transaction in the agency's records. On Monday, the USDA reported sales of 612,000 tonnes for the same period.

I doubt it. They’ll have to choose between their fear of brown folk or their livelihood. I think they’ll choose the former again.
I admit there's hypocrisy in that they would not survive without price supports and outright corp welfare like Jodi Ernst. But I sort of admire them for saying they'd take adversity for reforming trade on China.

But Ironically the main trade illegality is China's stealing protected intellectual property, and MAKING mftrs mftr in China. If China buys soy from us, and I can buy cheap flash frozen fish at Sams Club, .... who cares. I consumers choose to pay for phones made here than there .... fine. I want a cheap phone. So, Trump's typically sold them a shiny object that isn't really what the issue is about. And I expect Xi will stiff Trump on IP.

Farm co ops are not managed by the government and thus are not a form of socialism.

YEs, Jina will buy soy and stiff us on IP, and Trump will cave. And Litghthizer will have failed because of Trump. But who knows, maybe Trump will actually carry though on something for the first time in his life.

China is, in fact, caving as we speak, and Trump has followed through on everything he promised to do.

Yet another Trump failure.
Actually another Trump success. China has abandoned its ban on US produce and is now agreeing to open its markets to more US exports and get tougher on the theft of US intellectual property. What Clinton, Bush and Obama complained about but couldn't do, Trump has done, but once again what is good news for America is seen as bad news by Democrats.
