Sounds like Trump hasn't fully thought what his statement actually means. His point was that he was pissed about an article someone wrote about him, so he wants to punish the entire media. Typical dumb Trump remark

When the media exposes your lies, your only option - if you want to keep lying - is to wage war on the media.

The Republican Think Tank & Media Revolution was launched in the 70s-80s (from the American Enterprise Institute to FOX and talk radio) so as to hamper the media's ability to shine a light on the Washington's behavior. Republicans essentially created this giant bullhorn which screamed liar at any news source that didn't tow the party line.

Your party's Washington leaders can do whatever they want because they have created an alternate media which now protects men like Nixon from being exposed.

President Trump will wage a war against the media that would have made LBJ and Nixon proud. Now nobody will be able to expose the truth of Trump University or his bankruptcies or his liberal positions. The destruction of the free press is almost complete.

Trump is a child, spoiled by his own success. You can't sue someone just because they don't share your high opinion of yourself, doesn't matter if it's a private citizen or a media opinion show host. BTW, why do you want to give politicians a pass?
