They can't, as by doing so they would have had admit their policies are part of the problem. That they failed. That they lost. That they might have to rethink things.

Hence the rest of the noise on "cheating" "we actually won" blah, blah, blah.

Here's the rub for them. This has resulted in what we are seeing now on the left. The messaging that they didn't actually lose to avoid taking responsibilty, led to the belief that it was true, which led to inaction on the reasons underpinning their loss, which has led them to continue down the same path.

They're very, very literally doing this to themselves.

Trump got LESS of a percentage of the vote than Romney Got. (46% vs. 47%)
He got less of a percentage of the WHITE vote than Romney got. (58% vs. 59%)

There was not a huge backlash by white people who were just so angry because they are upset about bathrooms or that they can't say the N-word out inthe open anymore.

What there was that the media hit the voting populace with "Hillary is just as bad because emails or something" and "but she's totally got this in the bag". that enabled a lot of Suburban, white middle class people to vote for Dope Smoking Gary and a lot progressives to vote for Commie Jill Stein because they didn't like the way Bernie was treated.

Hillary was a bad candidate who ran a bad campaign. You "moderate" democrats want to do the same thing with Biden or Bloomberg and not that awful Bernie who might actually make you pay your fair share in taxes.
