In fact, women living almost anywhere in the developed world are safer today, than they were in the year 2000. Here in the United States, however,women are twice as likely to die during or after pregnancy, than they were 15 years ago. Also, for those who think the stork brings babies, a full-term pregnancy is 40 weeks. A woman who can't get prenatal care is at risk of a host of diseases throughout that time.

And why can't every woman in America get prenatal care? In part because GOP legislators refused to expand the PPACA to all of their citizens, that's why.

Sad, but quite possible. Women fleeing unstable regions would not have access to good nutrition or prenatal care where they came from, so their chances of surviving delivery would be lowered.
