Not at all. But I remember at least one case in the past few decades where bank robbers with AK 47s completely outclassed cops on the street. So....with the obviously made point that that cop was unarmed and killed.....what is it that shows that if he'd had your typical cop side-arm he would have fared any better?

That's what created the advent of swat teams. And I'm not saying there isn't swat abuses and that a military state is not a worry; because to a great degree that is what America has become. But why can't cops and everyday citizens have basic protections such as side arms? It only takes one bullet to stop a guy with an AK47.
