Unfortunately my friends, gun control is coming.

Yeah it will, if it repealed. If you don't obey the law, you get prosecuted.

Erradicate the 2nd amendment under the US Constitution??? ROFLMAO! You better get busy Grumps.. You will NEVER get 3/4's of the states to repeal the 2nd Amendment. NEVER. You liberals can't even carry 10 states most of the time in the entire country.

oh, i realise in the near future it will not happen. But amendments have been repealed in the past. I don't think you gun lovers have anything to worry about over the next 30-40 years..

ONE fucking amendment in 200+ years give me a fucking break.

I'll have that right until I die.

As long as the second stands, yes, you will...

I don't think it's going anywhere anytime soon, Doc.

Almost every American now has the right to carry a concealed weapon...and it isn't the Old West, like the gun grabbers prophecized.

In fact you'd never know anything changed, except violent crime quietly when down.

And yet they are still terrified by LEGAL gun owners.

I don't know many people who want guns completely banned. I don't own one and probably never will, unless I go live on a farm. Most 'anti gun' people want licenses and background checks.

In NZ we have to sit a license - have to get 23/25 questions right. I like the idea that people at least have to have a modicum of intelligence to handle a firearm.

I think if you have served in the armed forces and have retired or being discharged honorably, then you shouldn't have to sit a test.

Yea the 18th Amendment and look how that turned out.. Prohibition. NO THANKS.

It was repealed though. That is my point...

You have more and more mass shootings - especially those involving young kids - the public opinion will start to change and people will start voting for pollies who want gun control. You watch...This Sandy Hook business changed a lot of folks' minds. A lot of folks....Couple more of those over the next 2-5 years and it's all on IMO...

Actually, it is true.

No, it's not, and I've already demonstrated that fact. If what you are saying were true, then Switzerland wouldn't have one of the lowest homicide rates in the world.

So the U.S. is the only country with poverty, lack of education, etc...? Any stats that you have showing any correlation between those factors and our crime rate?

The US has among the worst rates of poverty in the developed world, our education system is one of the worst, access to secondary education is horrible, and our income gap is also horrible. These are the problems that we need to fix in our country if we want to see our crime rates reduce. Of course, there are other things we can also do in the meantime. We need more police officers on our streets. That does help some. But it's absolutely nonsense to think that you can control the actions of criminals by making laws against certain actions.

And you're desperate to protect your precious guns even though all the evidence in the world shows that the country with the highest number of guns is in fact NOT the safest.

Evidence? SHOW THE FUCKING EVIDENCE!!!! And explain the evidence to the contrary. You keep saying that the "evidence" shows. Yet you can't produce a single iota of that evidence. All you can do is to keep repeating the same cum hoc bullshit about the fact that the US has a high crime rate and it also has alot of guns. Well gee, you know what else we also have alot of? We have alot of land! Your reasoning could just as easily be used to say that high crime rates are due to the large size of the United States.

LOL, you're complaining about my lack of evidence?? And you've shown literally nothing except for your opinion. Why bother at this point? You're acting like a pretty big douche, but that's ok. Someone might want to restrict your access to your toys and that's obviously more important to you than the thousands of innocent people who die due to gunshots in this country each year.

Instead of talking about how we can better screen and control who can access these guns, you'd rather cry about your imaginary scenarios where you will be the hero and protect your children 24/7. :eusa_eh:

ONE amendment in 200+ years. Have to admit that's a great track record for the bill of rights.

It's a pretty big freakin island...

That aside, I don't fear the govt. Hell I can't even vote here although I am thinking of taking out citizenship because the political system here drives me nuts.

Anyway, time to head off.

New year's eve here. Not up to much but have chores to do! Have a good new year everybody - friend and foe alike. See you in 2013!

We had mass shooting'S during the last assault weapons ban. DO YOU HAVE A POINT?

1 Amendment in over 200 years of history repealed in a firestorm of hell.. It didn't last and was a HUGE mistake. America's foundation is LIBERTY. Any time you or anyone else tries to destroy a Constitutional freedom that Americans enjoy, you will meet with failure.. This isn't a Socialist utopia nor is it a Fascist nation. "Give me liberty or give me death." Our Founders lived those words. Don't think Americans won't fight back if liberals try to seize their weapons.. You will see a Civil War.. I can guarantee that because Americans know that tyranny begins when we are unable to defend ourselves from an all powerful government.

I just offered a solution to closing the private sale loophole to background checks few weeks ago...it didn't go over well with either side.

We gun nuts worry that a firearm registration would be misused in the future, but I worry about guns getting into the wrong hands just as much as the next person.

The second amendment pretty much prohibits any requirement other than being a citizen of the U.S. although to receive a conceal carry permit, you are required to attend classroom training and testing, plus a marksmanship requirement with both semi-automatic and revolver.

LOL, you're complaining about my lack of evidence?? And you've shown literally nothing except for your opinion.

Apparently you're not paying attention, and you're also ignorant. I've repeatedly pointed out the example of Switzerland. But you ignore this and say I have produced nothing. I've provided well reasoned arguments, and all you can offer is mindless reactionism.

Why bother at this point?

Because you're the one advocating for harsher gun laws. Therefore, you have a burden to provide sound justification for it.

Someone might want to restrict your access to your toys and that's obviously more important to you than the thousands of innocent people who die due to gunshots in this country each year.

Again, with the mindless reactionism, not to mention outright lies.

Instead of talking about how we can better screen and control who can access these guns, you'd rather cry about your imaginary scenarios where you will be the hero and protect your children 24/7.

Seeing as you have no interest in having an honest discussion the matter, you should just stay quiet. Looking for easy answers might make yourself feel good, kinda like masturbation. But that kind of approach will not yield any results. I have no interest in indulging people who are out on a witch hunt, like yourself. Especially when you don't actually know what you're talking about in the first place.

Just go read the thread, "How to confiscate weapons from conservatives."In it, the OP tells me that the government should take my children away if I don't freely give up my weapons and being that they were registered under new laws, they knew where to find me and my child(ren.) If that doesn't make you take a step back and realize what and who you're dealing with, I don't know what will. First off, these are liberals.. This whole thing isn't about protecting kids and we all know it. The facts do not bear out their argument. This is a pure gun grab. DON'T EVER TRUST LIBERALS.. so sorry, I don't agree to or like your suggestions either.

I think my comment is #4 in that thread.

But I don't agree with your perspective on liberals.

I like a lot of liberals, both here and IRL.

I may not agree with them, but I begin with the belief that they believe they are doing the right thing.
