veteran's benefits are not entitlements. they are EARNED

Same with social security and medicare....They are prepaid monies for an individual..

The problem is entitlements have a double meaning.

They can be something you paid into, so you are entitled to the benefit.

Or, they can be something that everyone gets with no special requirements.

My opinion that the correct definition should be the first one, and the second was a bastardization of the word by people who used it incorrectly so many times that they adopted their own incorrect meaning so much that it is now acceptable.


What we mean by 'entitlement'? Well, that depends...
