Voter beware: GOP using phony Dem websites

Not sure what the fraud is all about. It doesn't take much to realize that the site isn't exactly pro-candidate. Here is what is on the one page website:

John Lewis is bad for Montana:
•After more than a decade working under Baucus, John Lewis has pocketed over $568,000 of taxpayers’ money
•Lewis has been laying the groundwork for his campaign by visiting every county in Montana on the taxpayers’ dime
•Lewis has spent nearly 12 years working under Baucus and was a top aide to the “chief architect” of Obamcare

John Lewis for Congress

Now I realize that the democrats have to worry about how stupid are their members, after all we have 2008 and 2012 proving they just aren't that smart. But even a quick read of the site indicates that it certainly isn't a pro-candidate site. The only thing that MIGHT be fraud is the name of the website.

And don't forget this is a story ginned up by CNN who has "created" so much news that they are losing their following. So they will create nothing out of something to try and sell their soap suds.

oh gee...only the big giant "JOHN LEWIS FOR CONGRESS" at the top and a big giant picture of him on the side. Plus the opening line "John Lewis is tired of sitting on the sidelines watching his boss, longtime liberal crusader Max Baucus, get all the credit for advancing..." is rather deceiving as well.

For idiots yes, anything could be considered deceiving. (not calling you an idiot)

Isn't this a criminal act by the Republicans? If not, it certainly falls under juvenile behavior by an American major political party.
Political talk aside, Isn't pretending that democrats and republicans are different a fraud in the first place?

The National Republican Congressional Committee's digital team has what they think is a great idea: get out the Republican message through fake Democrat sites. FULL STORY

National Republican Congressional Campaign using fake Democrat websites to lure voters ? CNN Political Ticker - CNN.com Blogs

(CNN) – A warning this election season: If you are searching the Web for information on Democratic congressional candidates, read the fine print. At least 15 websites that appear to be official campaign sites for Democratic candidates, are actually the handiwork of the National Republican Congressional Committee.

In an effort to improve their online efforts this election season, the NRCC’s digital team came up with what the group believes is a great idea: get out the Republican message through fake Democrat sites.

Liberals have been doing it for year's. .. con's are slow to fighting fire with fire so what is the point of this thread?

Provide reliable verification for such a claim.

good ole CNN sounding the alarm for the Democrat party

don't why they don't just change their name to, THE DNC lapdog and all the news from and for the Democrat party

Unless you provide credible links, you stand branded a liar. A liar trying to excuse inexcusable behaviour from the GOP.

I'm on page one but if history is an indication I bet Bear or anyone else gave links to back up their bullshit.

From the CNN article on the issue:

The NRCC press secretary told us the Republican strategy is cleverer, but that Democrats have done the same thing.

One day after CNN’s interview Scarpinato directed CNN to a site mocking a Republican built by the Florida State Democratic Party, which the national Democrat Congressional Campaign Committee insists it had nothing to do with.

In a statement to CNN, the DCCC wrote, “It is not the DCCC’s practice to make websites that could be confused with the opponents site.”

So the DCCC's response is WE didnt do it, but a state Democratic party did.

And thats the easiest example to find.

It's fraud and should be investigated by the Justice Department.

Yeah, because a clear-as-day disclaimer that reads

Contributions to the National Republican Congressional Committee are not deductible as charitable contributions for Federal income tax purposes.

Paid for by the National Republican Congressional Committee and not authorized by any candidate or candidate's committee. Home - National Republican Congressional Committee www.nrcc.org

Is fraud. :eusa_hand:

I swear, some Obamabots act like they were just BORN under his dictatorship

so now they are SOUNDING the alarm with help of what is suppose to be our MEDIA (cnn), on those big mean evil Republicans

The point being it was made with the malicious intent to deceive. They plainly WANTED people to think the website was donating to a Democrat. It doesn't matter how dumb/smart the person doing the action is.

During the Watergate scandal 40 years ago, these kind of GOP tactics were revealed. The internal name for this kind of activity was "ratfucking".

Some things never change.

Liberals have been doing it for year's.

And right on cue, the tu quoque fallacy.

Tu Quoque only applies when someone thinks the act is wrong, here the Republicans think there is nothing wrong with it, and are pointing out democrats did it too, but they are not COMPLAINING that they did it too.

An example is when Doenitz got testimony from Nimitz that the US did exactly what Germany did vis a vis submarine warfare. Doenitz didnt argue that both sides were doing something illegal, and only germany got punished because it lost, he argued BOTH sides did the same thing, and there was nothing wrong with the methods both used when it came to international law.
