wait...another gang shooting in Japan.....but...guns are not alllowed...

Show us the evidence that its 'easy' to get a gun in Japan.

You're honestly claiming that the virtually zero rate of gun ownership in Japan has nothing to do with the virtually zero rate of gun violence in Japan?

Remember...same gun control laws in the 80s in Japan...didn't stop this....

A similar factional split among the Yamaguchi-gumi in the mid-1980s "led to Japan's bloodiest gang war ever, with more than 300 shootings, 25 dead and a fortune wasted on firearms, legal fees, security, and funerals", wrote David Kaplan and Alec Durbo, authors of Yakuza: Japan's Criminal Underworld, the definitive reference on the subject.

So if there is any incident of gun violence, no matter how low the rate or how rare....even if its 175 times lower than here, then gun control is worthless.

Huh.

Do you lock your doors at home? Leave your wallet on the dash and your windows down? After all, burglary happens. And wallets get stolen. So by your logic, locking your car or home is worthless.

Right?

Nope...never said locking doors or windows is worthless. They keep out the passing criminal. The real motivated sociopaths..they do not stop at a locked door or window, they break them open...just do some reading through news wires and you will see the carnage they commit...and after they break in, that is where the gun comes into play......to stop the ones not stopped by a locked door or window.....

Japanese culture is non violent and non criminal.....at least after World War 2.....it has been noted in studies that they have a low crime rate in all categories of crime, not just violent crime. They have a group culture that shames non conformist behavior and surrender a lot of authority to their police, prosecutors and judges.....

And yet when the Yakuza wanted to kill each other they got the guns to do it....as the gang war in the 80s showed...they had their gun control back then too and it didn't stop their criminals did it?

And they just had this shooting.

The thing that will keep their violence level low...their criminals are obsessed with money...even more than American and European criminals...read about it...you will see. So by targeting the crime bosses with fines and taxes for the violence of their minions...you lower the violent crime rate.

These over generations are ridiculous.

Nope....。。。

Have you ever spent so much as a few months in Japan? Maybe outside one of the big cities?

I have. Years actually.

And did you find it to be a police state?

You got two out of three. If you found "uptight," you were hanging with the wrong crowd (most likely in Tokyo).

Yup. But like 1 in 3 Japanese are in or around Tokyo. Wakayama ken was a little....stodgy. The folks in Osaka were the least uptight folks I've run into in East Asia.

What's Japan's murder rate again?

What's its per capita gun death rate?

Not high...but their criminals don't tend to kill each other...our criminals kill each other a lot...our gun crime rate is not due to normal people, but because our criminals murder other criminals at a higher rate.......

The majority of gun murders in the United States are violent, career criminals murdering other violent career criminals in small, multi block areas of our inner cities.....

out of 357 million guns in the hands of normal gun owners, criminals only use 8,124 to murder people......

You can tell which number is bigger...right?

What is the frequency of Japanese schoolboys shooting up movie theaters and buddhist temples?

I mean, yes if you ban guns some criminals will still have guns.

But the overwhelming problem that America faces will go away if guns were banned.

The internet is more important than the 2nd Amendment.

If we ban illegal drugs, drug addiction will go away. Oh...wait...

And when you've answered my last question, we'll move on the application of your logic in gun ownership.

Do you have a gun to defend yourself and your family? Well, people that have had guns for self defense were still hurt or killed.

Ergo, using your own logic, owning a gun for self defense or defense of your family is worthless. If not, why not?

nope.....guns have benefits that far outweigh the cost.....

And Japan has one of the lowest murder rates in the world.....with virtually no guns. Yet you've cited *any* example of gun violence in Japan as evidence that gun control measures are worthless.

Gun owners get killed all the time. Using your own logic, owning a gun is worthless.

Don't bother locking your doors either. Burglaries still happen.

So obviously you don't own a gun or lock your doors, right?

Nope...again...

357 million guns in the hands of law abiding gun owners...

And there are hundreds of millions of locks on doors and cars. Yet there are still burglaries and car thefts. Clearly locks are worthless.

This is your logic. Doesn't work well, does it?

505 accidental gun deaths.

Who said a thing about 'accidental deaths'? I'm citing those who have guns being killed by *someone else*.

You've cited rare, anecdotal examples of gun violence in Japan. Well, by that logic rare, anecdotal examples of gunowners being killed despite having guns to protect themselves would demonstrate that gun ownership is as worthless as gun control laws.

If you were applying your logic consistently, of course.

1,500,000 defensive gun uses to stop violent criminal attack.....

1,500,000 that don't actually involve the use of a gun. So by your own rationale, a replica would be as useful in stopping a violent criminal attack than a a real one. As actually using a gun to kill someone in self defense is less frequent than being struck by lightning.

While suicides account for a HUGE number of gun deaths in the US. More than 60% in fact, with more 20,000 such deaths a year. And having a gun in the home doubles to triples the odds of someone in that home committing suicide.

So benefits as rare as being struck by lightning vs an up to TRIPLE threat of suicide.

1,500,000 defensive uses of armed victims showing a gun, or injuring or capturing the criminal......and not needing to kill the criminal...why are you guys so obsessed with killing the criminal.....normal people just want the attack to end and have no need to end it with killing the criminal...but you guys seem to demand that outcome......

And there are about 21,000 gun suicides in the U.S......and 19,900 suicides committed without guns...

And Japan, South Korea and China have higher suicide rates and absolute gun control.....

Yes...to a determined thief they are worthless...ask any cop. But a layered defense, locks on doors and windows, lights outside, a dog, an alarm system...and a gun...give you a better chance of resisting criminals from common burglars to violent sociopath home invaders............

So by your own rationale, a replica would be as useful in stopping a violent criminal attack than a a real one.

Nope.....because you do not know what kind of criminal you will get...because they get guns easier than law abiding citizens do.......so if you draw a weapon it better be real because the criminal may very well have a real gun or a real knife or a real baseball bat.....and if they are enough of a sociopath they will push to see if you will cave in.........

Are you usually this dense?

Nope..... a friend of mine was stationed there for 23 years, married a Japanese woman, and trained with some of their traditional martial arts teachers..........all Koryu......Iaido and Pre War kendo......

Guess there's no point in having locks.

Nope.....there is all the reason to have a lock....as well as a gun..since locks don't stop criminals who kick them in.

They make enough noise so you have time to get your gun!
