Junior doctors are making history by staging the first all-out strike since the NHS launched in 1948.

How does the strike affect your medical care? Find out here.

Jeremy Hunt has admitted that 'this is likely to be my last big job in politics', in an interview this morning.

The Health Secretary had begged junior doctors to halt the strike, warning it would cost lives and the BMA union "wanted war". But the BMA warned he, not medics, will have blood on his hands - both legally and in the public's eyes.

These results are clearly visible in Sweden. There are very few private practices left. Of the few that are left, most are part of the national insurance system. A huge bureaucracy has been erected to take on all the necessary central planning of public and pseudo-private healthcare.

When Swedes go to the polls every four years, they vote on three levels of government: national, landsting, and kommun. A landsting is a regional mid-level type of government and there are 20 of them. The landstings are almost entirely devoted to managing public healthcare. They are always short on funding and regularly make losses.
The advantage of a free market system, as I am sure the venerable professor Frank knows, is that supply and demand meet to form prices. These prices are signals to the practitioners and tell them what their patients need and value most. If there were a sudden surge in demand for open-heart surgery, the price of that service would, ceteris paribus, rise. The practitioners would be motivated by the rising price to move into fields where they can make higher profits

Health Policy Experts Anticipate Fewer Doctors, Less Productivity Under Obamacare
Health Policy Experts Anticipate Fewer Doctors, Less Productivity Under Obamacare

Under Obamacare, doctors have been strained by costly new regulations, intricate payment “reforms” that tie their Medicare reimbursement to complex federal reporting requirements, and mandates that they install and make “meaningful” use of electronic health records.
Physicians for Reform :: New Estimate Of Obamacare's Fiscal Impact On Private Doctor Practices

Add a new burden to the mix: The proportion of patients they see are rapidly shifting away from commercial health plans and toward Medicaid, which sometimes pays doctors pennies on the dollar that they were previously reimbursed under private insurance.

Obamacare deals blow to one-doctor medicine
Despite the predictions of fortune tellers in politics and think tanks, we won’t know for years whether the Affordable Care Act, otherwise known as Obamacare, will ultimately leave people sicker or healthier, richer or poorer.

Yet already the law, coming on top of previous legislation, is speeding the demise of an American small-business institution; the one-doctor medical practice.

Interestingly the striking doctors are having trouble concentrating on picketing as they are under constant interruption from job recruiters from nations without communistic health care.

The real effects of this won't be felt until the job offers are turned into contracts.

Nope, not one bit. That's the problem with being liberal you see, trying to please everyone and be all wishy washy. he should have hiked taxes up hard and nationalised all the hospitals. Compulsary purchases. Destroyed the health insurance industry in a stroke and done things right, not this half assed website has crashed failure. Show some of the whingers on here who bleat about the "far left" what real socialism is.

The Democratic Party had a supermajority in both houses of Congress when ObamaCare was passed. They could have passed what ever they wanted, but his own party wouldn't even support what you suggest because they know Americans don't want your turd sandwich.

Why don't you post the numbers for your 'supermajority.'

All the GOP Senators voted NO..

All the GOP House voted NO plus 34 Democrats voted NO!

Hardly a 'supermajority.'

It means that docs and dentist can make damn good dough in the UK....

The UK NHS has been there since 1947, taking care of every man woman and child from cradle to grave. Doctors go on strike because of attempts by the very right wing british government to impose crazy working hours on already stretched junior doctors and you take THAT as a sign that your pet idea (name gives it away) is somehow vindicated.

1947!!!!

You want some damn evidence, here's some for you. Here is what having an insuance middle man making his profits between doctor and patient does. Here is what having a health insurance industry that has more sway in the cpaital than any politican does.

I have to presume you know how bogus and how old is that information and that you are intentionally posting misleading information. Either that or you are drunk on the Progressives Kool Aid.

This information is from the year 2000. Outdated at best.

The UN no longer does the ranking due to the fact of its inaccuracies. I take it you are aware, of course you are aware, that the various countries provided THEIR OWN DATA.

Of those criteria on the list, specifically, which ones apply to health care?

Are you actually buying into the health care expenditures? Those are basically the costs paid by the citizens. You should notice that nothing is said about the ADDITIONAL TAXES paid by the citizens. Those taxes put other nations, for instance, Canada where their taxes are two thousand dollars more than what we pay for health care.

That is a cute effort, however, as you know, it is bogus.

They passed it without one republican vote. Is that enough of a majority?

A supermajority is a number that is much more than half of a total, especially in a vote.

Why don't you post all of the voting numbers.
It passed without one Republican vote. That is a majority, even you can't spin that one.

Supermajority was the spin. Thanks for clearing that up.

btw; If Reagan hadn't deregulated the healthcare insurance industry it wouldn't have been necessary.

It says various dates after 2000 in the sources part of the image though, 2011, 2012...2013 is in there too. As a matter of a fact nothing in there says 2000...so what are you talking about?

It's asshole politics 101, don't like the truth so just make lie about the source. Like the guy earlier who claimed that there was always someone on strike in the NHS, no data, just "I want this to be true so I'll claim it is".

Supermajority was the spin.

It wasn't spin. It was a fact. The GOP was incapable of blocking it even with a filibuster, but thanks for contributing absolutely nothing like usual.
