Write, call, keep letting your federal, state, and local politicians know that the American people aren't going to take our eye off the ball. Get actively involved in your own local political situation. That's where it starts. Be persistent and consistent and use the tools available to a free people with a Bill of Rights. Action requires energy; not just for one day, but every day. Every season (except this one, of course) I get a few kids who try out for the Wrestling team who already think they're badasses. Sometimes they are kids the others their age are intimidated by because they may be jacked up and have a 'reputation.' They always look like real hard cases (the sort of kids those who live on the Race Relations Forum here would be so scared of). The first thing I do is laugh in their faces, because invariably they are the kids who lose, fail, and quit in short order. See, they may be good at flexing it out and making scary faces, but they don't put in the work day after day that it takes to really learn and get better, and their ego can't handle setbacks. Give me the quiet kid who never quits and never complains, or the goofball who just can't seem to shut up and stop joking around but bounces back every time he gets knocked down any day over the poser who makes faces and excuses.

We've got to put in the work day after day for as long as it takes to affect change.
