The WALL was never going to be an impenetrable physical barrier that would stop ALL illegal immigration from the South. It was mainly a physical manifestation of a PRINCIPLE: The Principle being that the U.S. was now going to take its own immigration laws seriously...it was a message to those who intended to come here, and were encouraged by the coddling by the previous Administrations of illegals. No more; don't come here illegally.

Hence, troops on the border are completely consistent with the message of The Wall. We are SERIOUS about defending our border and our sovereignty. In effect, the presence of the troops is a substitute for a physical Wall.
