Well it's true. The relationship between Republicans and Democrats is about the same as the relationship between a parent and child at the grocery store.

The child wants everything and the parent needs to remind the child that "we cant afford that" then of course the child throws a fit in dramatic fashion... "no fair" "I hate you" "you hate me."

Yup. In my opinion, the progressives cannot or will not discuss the core concepts that created the exceptionalism that is the United States. To seriously consider or discuss that exceptionalism as embodied in the U.S. Constitution--a federal government that recognizes, respects, protects, and defends the unalienable rights of the individual and otherwise leaves us alone to form whatever sort of society we wish to have--is too likely to question the dogma and doctrines of the progressive religionists. Progressivism has to exist in an more murky environment full of smoke and mirrors and other distractions that keep reality out of full view. Once the cold glaring light of truth is cast into the shadows, Progressivism is exposed as the fraud that it is.

Many progressives are well intended, as honest as the next person, and genuinely believe in their ideology. But even those shy away, deflect, and obfusicate when challenged to articulate a rationale for their convictions.

We are touching on that and discussing around the edges of it on the "Hunters and gatherers vs free stuff" thread.

Whatever one thinks of Rick Santorum and his qualifications to be President, he and any other of the GOP hopefuls, those still standing and those who have suspended their campaigns, would be able to make genuinely authentic and useful points on a thread like that. I don't think Obama could.
