There is nothing wrong with Socialism. There are plenty of socialists in the world that seem to be quite happy. However, Socialism is not compatible with the U.S. Constitution, so if Socialism is ever accepted by the majority of U.S. citizens, the Constitution will have to be replaced.

Did we replace the Constitution when we enacted Social Security .. Medicaid/Medicare?

Are we going to replace the Constitution when we enact universal healthcare?

The Constitution says "We the People' .. thus we decide, not voices from hundreds of years in the past. The Constitution is a beautiful framework, crafted by absolutely brilliant men who had the brilliance to craft it to allow for the future. Absolutely fucking brilliant.

... which is why they never used words like "slave" or "slavery" even though it was everywhere around them. They didn't use them because even they knew then that we would not always be slaves, and they allowed for the expansion, growth, and evolution of the Constitution.

The courts reinterpreted the Constitution to allow for social security. The Constitution grants no authority to the federal government to administrate a Social Security system.

You are correct in that if the people continue to ask for a more socialistic country, it will happen. At that time, the Constitution will again have to be reinterpreted and will eventually have to be replaced.
