Probably my favorite is "you reap what you sow". There are 1,000s of books written about those 5 words.
My second favorite is probably "you are not raising a child, you are raising a future adult". Again, whole books about what this means, and how VERY different way of approaching parenting it is.

That's nothing new. A number of years ago, I watch a documentary "Caligula" about the tremendous emperor of antiquity.

He was a interesting guy, WW-2 vet, wounded on Peleliu, who had his entire family wiped out when the side of a mountain slid off during Hurricane Camille in Nelson County, Virginia.....Their bodies were never recovered. I guess he knew death.
