Trump did not say what the Post and other media are twisting his words to sound like. Read this and know the Truth, if it interests you at all.

Once again, the establishment is going to savage and smear every opponent of Jebba the Bush till he is the last one standing just like they did for the loser Romney and the collaborator McCain.

1. The Post did not provide context at the outset disclosing that McCain and Trump have been feuding, with McCain characterizing some Trump supporters as “crazies” and Trump stating that McCain graduated last in his class in Annapolis. The charged rhetoric continued at the conservative Family Leadership Summit in Ames, Iowa this weekend.

2. When a panelist characterized McCain as a “war hero,” the Post is accurate in reporting that Trump initially said McCain is “not a war hero.” But then, Trump immediately modified his statement saying– four times– that McCain is a war hero:

“He is a war hero.”

“He’s a war hero because he was captured.”

“He’s a war hero, because he was captured.”

“I believe, perhaps, he’s a war hero. But right now, he’s said some very bad things about a lot of people.”

3. Did Trump say McCain is not a war hero because he was captured? No, not in the exchanges represented in the Post.

4. Is the Post’s characterization an accident? It would appear not, because it is repeated in the Post’s caption of the video clip, which also states: “Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), a decorated Vietnam war veteran, was not a war hero because he was captured by the North Vietnamese [emphasis added].”

Further, in the Post’s second sentence, Trump is quoted as stating of McCain, “He’s not a war hero…He’s a war hero because he was captured,” but the article selectively left out the phrase Trump had uttered in between: “He is a war hero.”

This is Senator McCain's collaborationist record that Trump did not bring up out of decency.

McCain has since used his 'war hero' status to betray through legislative obstruction anything that would help veterans. Only Nixon could go to China and only McCain can undercut and stop some legislation that would help veterans because he is considered above reproach for being captured as a POW.
******************************************************************************************************
McCain, who was saved from drowning by a Vietnamese civilian and was treated at a Hanoi hospital for his wounds, was the son of the Admiral commanding the Pacific Fleet, so he was what might be referred to as a high value captive for the North Vietnamese regime. As such he received considerable attention from his captors, was referred to by his fellow prisoners as the “Crown Prince,” and was, by some accounts, handled with kid gloves. And his connections may have ensured that he would receive additional high value treatment from the Pentagon upon his return to the U.S., he being awarded an astonishing Silver Star, Legion of Merit, Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star and a Purple Heart for his 22 missions spent bombing mostly civilian targets in North Vietnam.

McCain’s own tale of his torture and the confession he recorded for the North Vietnamese comes largely from his book Faith of My Fathers, in which he describes his shame at cooperating with the enemy. But some of McCain’s fellow prisoners, who were tortured and did not collaborate, have challenged his narrative, expressing their belief that McCain was not physically abused at all and that he was well treated. Others who were also in the prison camp dispute that claim. But by McCain’s own account he may have begun cooperating with the North Vietnamese within three days of his capture and was fully on board within two weeks, providing specific intelligence on his aircraft carrier, its aircraft, and the support vessels attached to it, information that was later featured in North Vietnamese radio broadcasts.

What Trump actually said is:

THE ONLY REASON WE THINK OF MCCAIN AS A WAR HERO IS BECAUSE HE GOT CAPTURED. MEANING....HE WAS A SHITTY SOLDIER.....GOT CAUGHT.....AND THEN MILKED HIS BEING CAUGHT IN ORDER TO MAKE EVERYONE PITY HIM AND CALL HIM A WAR HERO.

Anyone who watched the video....saw his facial expression and body language and knows how Trump is a petty flamethrower.....knows that this is what he was saying.

A transcript in this case is a half truth at best.

Nice try.

McCain is the MICs poster child. Trump does not care who he pisses off but on this one he attempts damage control, too late, get ready for some possibly campaign ending bombshell revelations on Trump. He just fucked with the people who know all, didn't someone tell him?

All of this love and support for McCain from the Left seven years later, you have to ask yourself why not the love and support from the Left in 2008? Back then they told us what a racist he was and how his military service and POW status should not be factors in electing a President. Remember the big deal the Left made when he referred to Obama as "That one" in the debates? Or, how about when the Left went after McCain about his use of the word, 'gook' ? What's changed, Lefties?

You people are desperate to make this about McCain. It isn't working. This isn't about McCain, it is about Trump. When Trump uttered his insults he insulted all former POW's and all veterans and all persons currently in the military. Deal with it. It isn't going away. The only thing going away is the arrogant ignorant jerk who made the comments.

Bullshit, Senator 'The Song Bird' McCAin is the disgrace, and Trump was merely being nice.

This is the TRUTH about John McCain.

No, he just insulted McCain who deserved it after insulting millions of Americans.

I guess the question that should be asked is, does being captured and living through the ordeal make one a hero?"

Or is a hero someone who flies a jet into hostile conditions knowing there are people trying to kill him?

I would say no to the first and yes to the second. I think that living through being captured, after having both legs and an arm broken, shows internal fortitude that I am not sure I have. I am quite sure that under torture I would swear to being Hitler.

Trump said that illegal immigrants are treated better than our veterans and John McCain is part of that.

McCain is terrible. He is the poster boy for the worst among us gaining political office....and staying there for over 30 stinking years! Lil' Jebby is another poster boy for the worst. He trades on his family name while promoting progressive policies.

Trump dumps on both men and rightfully so. Both men desire a great deal of criticism, but the establishment refuses to accept criticism of Jebby or McCant and attacks Trump.

Makes me remember the Good Old Days of Ronnie Ray-Gun's aids rushing out to tell American "what he really meant ...".

Like Drumpf's other idiotic gaffes, this will die down and he'll give us a new one. Soon, there will be websites listing "Dumbest Things The Donald Said".

Personally, I'm looking forward to the debates. Should be great fun.

And RWs, if he isn't the candidate, please oh please -

WRITE HIM IN!!!

Why does your "fact check" ignore what Trump said immediately after "McCain is a war hero because he was captured"

"I prefer those who were not captured"

What a lame excuse for a fact check

Trump said that illegal immigrants are treated better than our veterans and John McCain is part of that.

What a totally ridiculous thing to say

Does Trump want to compare veterans benefits to those of illegal immigrants?

Of course he does as would any patriot.
