The subject is cutting spending, not finding better ways to shake down taxpayers.

And, as usual, the lolberal's spending cut list begins and ends with military spending...As though there's absolutely no waste, fraud, abuse and plain old stupidity to be cut out of the domestic socialistic welfare state.

I can't speak for liberals, but I do think a little bit of scaling back on Defense couldn't hurt. I don't want to gut it because I love the military and everything it stands for, but there's got to be some extraneous things that we can get rid of.

For example, the huge failure that is the V-22 Osprey.
A lot of scaling back of the military is in order, which is beside the point I made.

For the left, "cutting spending" almost invariably begins and ends with Pentagons budgets.

Here's what we need to do:
  • cut the defense budget in half

  • Just have to ask, is everything you listed after this what you would cut from defense, or do you mean cut defense in half along with everything else you listed?

Eliminate the Dept of Education, HHS, TSA, Dept of the Interior, The National Endowment for the Humanities, National Endowment for the Arts, Public Media funding for PBS and NPR, Head Start, it's a long, LONG list. We can do without 80%. We don't need a department of urban development.

We have a corps of engineers AND an Army Corps of Engineers. Why do we still have a Millennium Commission. The Millennium was 13 years ago. How much longer will we "prepare" for Y2K? The government still has a Tennessee Valley Authority set up to bring electricity to the Tennessee Valley. Don't they have it by now?
