Constitution and spending.

Biden wanted to forgive $400b of student loans, aka "buying votes", now he's trying to forgive $127b, congress is taking that to the USSC. Even Nancy Pelosi said that Biden can't forgive student loans w/o congressional approval.

"By a vote of 6-3, the justices ruled that the Biden administration overstepped its authority last year when it announced that it would cancel up to $400 billion in student loans."

Despite the setback, Biden's administration has delivered relief for some borrowers by circumventing the need for Congressional or court approval. He's used the Department of Education's existing authority to wipe $127 billion of student debt for roughly 3.6 million people since 2021.

The SCOTUS ruling was on whether he could arbitrarily do everybody gets something under the heroes act authority. Since then the Department of Ed has used its authority under the higher Ed Act going through the normal rules making process and lawsuits so far have failed pretty quickly challenging the rules changes. Even the most recent one on the SAVE payment plan had almost all the red states except 3 dismissed for having no standing and nobody of any significance believes it will be successful because Congress specifically gave the Dept of Ed authority to establish the income contingent repayment plan terms in 1994. Lawsuits on the 1 time adjustment have continuously failed for lack of standing because it gives borrowers the option to elect not to receive it thereby defeating GOP efforts to manufacture harm under their red state spite taxes on forgiveness. That will likely be the fate of the lawsuits that will challenge the forthcoming enhanced one-time adjustment plan that is designed to clear the books of all the pre-2000 federal student loans because those are the ones that are the most screwed up in terms of records that are making the one-time adjustment a more herculean task than originally anticipated.

So what. You rely on semantics to lie. Joey bribem is simply using a different avenue to violate the COTUS.
Joe Biden has BYPASSED the people's representatives in congress who control the purse strings, and ignored the SCOTUS by going full dictator buying votes with taxpayer money for $10,000 to $30,000 per vote. BLATANT corruption. Show me the student loan forgiveness legislation, it doesn't exist.

Yep, just not using the HEROES Act, as per the SCOTUS

Exactly, the Supreme Court didn't rule against forgiving student loans any more than it forbid spending on the border wall.

The trouble with the system is that there is so much money available at the president's discretion that if one way is blocked often another means remains open. Congress needs to do its job and reduce spending allocations.

We hear endlessly about how awful Washington, Democrats, and even the so called RINO Republicans are in Congress for spending money on things that the minority think is wrong. Well good news for you all. It turns out that our foremost Constitutional Scholar, Donald Trump, has decided the President has unilateral power to direct spending.

Now, Biden is called a Dictator by the Right Wing, because he gets spending through the congress. But Trump, isn’t even pretending that he will get it through Congress. He will just do whatever he wants, and everyone can just go suck it.

So you were saying about who the Dictator is?

People today have no freaking clue what constitutional spending is, since the supremes put the Constitution on its head, when they declared, in the 1930s, "general welfare" to be a power and not a spending category as the founders intended.

Poor thing, any forgiven loan is considered taxable income, doesn't matter if it's credit card or student loans. That applies to State and federal taxes.

Where did the college loan forgiveness money that the Supreme Court deemed unconstitutional come from? A magic money tree behind the White House?

EDIT- after reading the thread I see I'm late to the party slapping the shit out of the OP and the Usual Suspects Biden apologists. Good job.

Yes you are late. But answer this question if you would. Why is your answer the usual Trump may be awful and a dictator but Biden is worse?

Poor thing no it isn't. PSLF are not ever taxable discharges at the end of the 10 years and all federal student loan discharges are federally tax exempt by act of Congress through the end of next year. Only a handful of GOP states rushed to make them taxable on state law hoping it would give people standing to sue to stop them. They got outplayed by Biden which added the opt out option to strip that standing right away again by giving them a way to avoid the alleged harm.
