Where does the constitution give federal judges the power to repeal laws?

Hostility toward judicial review is not predicated on facts of law and the Constitution but on the frustration of racists and bigots unable to codify their racism and bigotry in state laws, whereby disadvantaging those whom they hate, such as African-Americans and gay Americans.

Interesting thing is WQ is clueless about Judicial Review and nullification.
Also interesting is how most on the right are avid supporters of judicial review and the authority of the courts to invalidate state and Federal laws when a gun control measure is ruled un-Constitutional.

So much for 'the will of the people.'

On this we can agree.

The 1st amendment should not prevent states from regulating guns.
Or from regulating religion.

Or from regulating free speech.

Or from regulating civil liberties.
funny thing is historically colonies and states regulated weapons, most regulated speech and religion

but this raises interesting questions

Jefferson disagreed with Madison often and the best part is -- Jefferson often disagreed with Jefferson.. Little Tommy Nail Factory was a hypocrite's hypocrite

Jefferson and Madison of course founded
the Republican party in 1792 to stand for freedom and liberty from central govt after they saw the Federalists abuse of central govt.

To this day Republicans stand for freedom and liberty while Democrats oppose. Its no surprise they spied for Hitler and Stalin and even gave Stalin the bomb.

Why do you get out of bed every day -- or do you?

There is evidence that the framers intended the court to do what they do, Federalist Papers and all that.

So produce the evidence, you nitwit. Don't just say - somewhere in the federalist papers.

I can't imagine the founders approving of unelected judges having final say on every issue.!!!

The Federalist Papers have no substance of law, they were letters to the editor, and better than that anyone can do their homework and read them.

reading them is fine but one must keep in mind that they were written by Federalists who were quickly driven out of office by Republicans in the Second American Revolution because the Federalists were too big govt and liberal.

Do you understand?

Ed, I'll be kind: you have confused the Federalist arguments for the Federalist party.

you also proven what Dante posted a few posts ago about the papers: "yet not everyone understands them. imagine that?"

Madison's arguments were used in the Federalist papers more than the arguments of Hamilton were, because they were arguing for ratification of the proposed constitution. During the constitutional debates, Madison won more arguments than Hamilton did.

The Federalist party wasn't truly what we understand a party to be. And Hamilton was the leader of that faction and Adams was not considered a 'High Federalist' among Hamilton's close circle. That is why Jefferson sided so often with Adams and tried to win him over away from the Hamilton people

Madison's arguments were used in the Federalist papers more than the arguments of Hamilton were,

100% stupid you forgot to tell us what subject you are on and why ?? Was somebody talking about madison's arguments in the Federalist papers???

See what happens when you try substance? See why you are reduced to personal attack??
