Which Republican is giving up Medicare & SS on retirement?

I've yet to meet a Republican who didn't take Social Security & Medicare after retirenent?

I have seen a lot complain about such programs none the less.

Seems a bit hypocritical, no?

Ive yet to meet a democrat that volunteered to pay higher taxes.

The premises of this thread is to combat this one.

Has any hypocrite on the left voluntarily paid more taxes, since they claim they want to?

I fail to see the hypocrisy.

People on the left preach for higher taxes. Nobody on the right is preaching for more social programs.

A lot of working class republicans probably don't know that part of maga is getting rid of social security. Then when they're old, they won't be able to afford internet so they can bitch about socialist programs like....medicare and social security.

The Republicans have had total control of the federal government for nearly two years. Who on the right has suggested that we get rid of SS or Medicare?

Based on the fact we have a ton of posters, who spend all day posting on a political message board, this tells me a few things.
1, We have a lot of posters who are retired or unemployed. Pension/Social Security/Medicare folks or unemployment or welfare folks.
2, We have a lot of posters posting while on the job, therefore they a screwing their employer over. who probably hold a job for a while get fired and then are on unemployment.
A majority of these all day posters are on the far right and are counting on Social Security, Medicare, some counting on Medicaid or some other entitlement.
Yet, no one on the right supports any of these programs, at least on this forum. So many, many rightist are lying there asses off and at the same time, are sweating the targeted cuts in these programs by Republicans. It's a pretty sad life these folks are living.

For starters, McConnell and Ryan
Republicans Look to Safety Net Programs as Deficit Balloons
Republicans' Public Opposition To Social Security And Medicare

Social security and Medicare are two very successful programs instituted by two of most hated Democratic presidents of all time.

So naturally, the republicans would love nothing more than eliminate them.

But since they are so fucking lame at doing anything other than giving tax cuts to the billionaires, they’ll never come up with replacements.

That's the problem. I call this the Ray from Cleveland's Raccoon Theory.

You see a raccoon digging through your garbage can. So you go inside the house and fetch that half a ham you were going to throw out at the end of the week anyway. The animal eats in delight. Now give it a couple of seconds and try to take that ham away and see what happens.

My raccoon theory is not something new. Politicians knew of this theory all along--especially on the left.

Once you give people something, they automatically claim it as their own. Like the raccoon, it's virtually impossible to take it away--unless you want to get your hand chewed up.

And this is why when Republicans are in power, they cannot take social goodies away. It's also the reason we need to stop creating more social programs.

Let's extrapolate that.

If you take a loan from the bank, it's mandatory you have house insurance. Even if you object, you must pay into it. Now if you have a major house fire, is it hypocritical to have insurance pay the damages?

In most states (if not all) vehicle insurance is required to own and operate a motor vehicle. Even if you object and get into a serious accident, is it hypocritical to have the insurance company cover your expenses?

There is nothing hypocritical about getting back what was promised when you are forced to pay into something either by private regulation or government.

They never get it right that it's reform, not getting rid of it.

Either that, or people like myself don't watch a lot of television; we go on the internet instead.

If you think "nobody on the right" supports these programs, then you don't spend a lot of time here; probably watching television.

Some of us have a job where we can come here during the day. For instance, I'm a truck driver. When getting loaded or unloaded, it can take anywhere between a half-hour to two hours depending on where I'm at. There is nothing more I can do other than wait, so I come here during the day while waiting. My employer has no objections.

You are blind and myopic if you think posters that come here during the day are only on the right. I see both: leftists and righties posting here not only during the day, but well within the morning hours.

debt-added-by-the-previous-43-presidents-combined-6-3-trillion-11827103.png

Obama's stimulis package was BS & Trump's tax cuts were BS.

Both added on a ton of debt & did nothing to help the real wages grow much.

Wages in the US grew at their fastest pace for nine years last month, the latest official figures show.

The US Labor Department said wages grew at an annual rate of 3.1% in October, accelerating from a rate of 2.8% the month before.

The economy also added 250,000 jobs last month, beating expectations, while the jobless rate remained at 3.7%.

US wage growth hits nine-year high

Inflation is going up quicker than wages are, opps.

Inflation hurts our oldest members the most.

Thats why Social security & medicare are so important

I’m not a Republican, but I have already informed both Medicare and the Social Security Administration thst I will not be taking their money. We got my wife off of SSDI and Medicare after we got married 4+ years ago.

Republicans they complain if someone is poor, and also complain about government helping them not be poor & about businesses helping them not be poor by paying them more?

Government has never helped anybody "not be poor." Government gives them enough to live on, however having enough to live on does not mean one is no longer poor.

Republicans believe that government should not force industry to pay people more than their labor is worth. If one wants their labor to be worth more, it's up to them to make that happen--not government nor industry.

Republicans are the first to complain about flop houses & homeless in shabby clothes.

Then they complain about bosses paying them too much.

Then they complain about government helping them.

It makes Republicans come off as cruel, thoughtless & Heartless.

Good!

That much more for the rest of us.

I'll give up Social Security after the fucking government give me back the money they forcefully took from me for 30 years and return the money they forcefully took from my employer, with interest.

However, I will agree to give up all future claims to Social Security if they would stop the program so that my children and grandchildren will not have to be burdened with it.

Southerners cost us more per person on Medicare spending.

Geographic Variation in U.S. Medicare Per Capita Spending and Spending Growth Rates by County, 2007-2013

Southerners cost us more per person on Medicaid spending.

Medicaid Financing: The Basics - Issue Brief

We should start making the South pay more in Federal Taxes, so they can start paying the tab more evenly.
(Well, at least that's how Republicans would see it)
But, I suppose it doesn't apply because the Southerners are "Their darlings"??????
Federal Program ..........da rules apply nationwide..........which happen to be UNIFORM............dumbass........

We should RAISE the taxes on the South, because they take more, in fact what ever a state takes it should pay that much more in taxes.

At least that's the kind of logic that SHOULD APPLY according to Republican theories.
Whatever.................Mr. Fascist.........stay in New York........you are welcome there. LOL

Well, just about every Republican on the forum says European NATO countries aren't paying their fare-share towards Military.

Well, then the same Republican logic applies when the South takes way more benefits like Medicare than it pays in taxes, they aren't paying their fair share.

We should cut off the South, I mean what has the South done for US??????

I mean what did the South ever do other than pass on it's Negroes to the North, and get us involved in wars WE in the Northern states pay for, and don't even want.

Lincoln should have let the Confederacy rise, I certainly don't like sharing my Nation with bozos South of the Mason Dixon line.

Much like any other American, working people of the south were forced into the program whether they wanted it or not. They were promised X if they contributed X.

If the South takes more social programs funding like Medicare why should they complain about social programs more?

People call it being "forced" when programs are ut in place by representative government. Strange.

I don't know that people in the south complain anymore than we do up north. I think it's divided on political lines more than southern-northern line.

People with jobs pay into social security and Medicare.

Why shouldn’t they get their money back?

Fucking derp.

For the reason that the money was already spent, duh.

No one should get the SS money paid by the tax payer. At least not until a credible plan was made to reform the whole system within the next decades.
