I bet that's got them shaking in their boots.

What a guy that obama is, huh? :lmao:

I think he should follow the Iran rule book...
1. Freeze bank accounts
2. End trade and what ever else we had planned to do together...
3. Sanctions up the ass....

Press down hard until they get out of the Ukraine.

That might mean something if we were dealing with a nation that is even remotely similar to Iran. We are not. There is a MASSIVE difference in between the two nation and how we deal with them is not going to be similar.

As far as any position the US takes regarding the Ukraine, we should act in unison with the EU member states. It is in their region, afterall, and affects them the most. All in all, as a nation, we would be much better off if we acted with our allies instead of taking the lead or acting on our own. It is time to work together with others and not be the controlling big brother to the world.

Every one of those things will hurt us far more than Russia. Even if Europe had not already taken sanctions off the table, which they did.

Russia has announced that it might abandon the dollar as reserve currency. That's as empty a threat as ours is to Russia. Now if both Russia and China abandoned the dollar and used yuan as the reserve, then of course the dollar would fall through the basement.

What should Obama do? Remember that a lot of republicans will attack him for using force.

1. "First, President Obama should speak unequivocally and call this what it is: a military invasion. The Obama administration must publicly acknowledge that its “reset” with Russia is dead.

2. The United States should convene an emergency meeting of NATO to develop a strong united response...

3. Third, the United States should rally our allies to boycott this June’s G-8 summit ...

4. Fourth, any and all discussions and negotiations with Moscow on any issue unrelated to this crisis, including trade and other matters, should be immediately suspended.

5. Fifth, the U.S. and our allies should put forward a condemnatory resolution in the United Nations Security Council.

6. ...renew a push for eventual membership in NATO by the Republic of Georgia and aim to provide the country with some of the defensive capabilities the Georgians have requested...

7. ...Obama administration should immediately add more Russian officials to the Magnitsky list, which places travel bans and other sanctions on them – something President Obama failed to do in December.

8. ....Majority Leader Harry Reid should immediately halt his effort to force a Senate vote on Rose Gottemoeller next week to be under secretary of state for arms control and international security. ... Ms. Gottemoeller, who has tried to play down and potentially kept information from Congress and our allies about Russian violations of arms-control agreements."

You are assuming that the EU will do what is right as opposed to what is politically correct.

When it comes to situations like this, one must be willing to make the difficult decisions.

The EU will never do it.

And as for the "controlling big brother" comment. If we did not intervene in WWII and come to the aid of Europe...this world will be a much different place.

A world with a multitude of countries of all different sizes, with most of them with weak defenses...and many of them landlocked.....there must be one to step up and be a "big brother"....

You speak like it is so simple......"lets all get together and sing kumbaya"....

It is not simple. The aggressive want land and the weak can not defend themselves.

I bet you are retarded enough to believe that is all that has been done and will be done.

This OP is a textbook example of lying by omission.

Actually, that is the only definitive thing that has ben done so far..

That and a lot of talking into the cameras.

“Russia’s not our enemy. Come to think of it, it’s a better ally than the Democrats right now.”
- President George Bush,

This is way too complicated to try to put a plan of action on a bumper sticker.

The government in Kiev is not the legally-elected government of Ukraine.

The people in Crimea (mainly ethnic Russians) support what Putin is doing, as does the population of Russia.

Russia is the main supplier of natural gas to Europe. And the only supplier to Ukraine.

The U.S. has no major treaty obligation to militarily defend "Ukraine," as it does with NATO members.

All over the world, countries are splitting up due to ethnic groups wanting to dissociate from the government in countries that were basically cobbled together by outsiders.

The only thing we should be working for here is a bloodless resolution to their differences. Beyond that, let them sort it out themselves.

Anybody care to watch the MSNBC coverage of this?

They were busy tonguing Michelles' butt, claiming that her visit to China was gonna solve something, because she's so "incredibly smart", how could the Chinese refuse a request from such a wonderful person.

I'm going "What in the Hell are they talking about".

They also took a little time to cover the Ukraine. Said that Obama and Kerry are doing great things and that Putin is acting unhinged.

Seems to me Obama and Kerry are what's unhinged. They're reacting rather than acting. Putin has been setting this up for years. He waits till after the games are over and then uses a protest and a coop as an excuse to take back Crime'e.

Russians have been talking for years about taking back Alaska. They figure we got it for too cheap a price. Obama gave him some of the Aleutians a couple of years ago. Give these bastards an inch and they'll take an entire country.

The Iron Curtain was allowed because we were afraid to stop them when they started putting up barbed-wire all along the Russian occupation border in Berlin. They were powerful allies and we didn't want to piss them off. Liberals in America were tired of war and wanted no part of another one. So thus began the Cold War. Now we're about to have another one. How far do we let Communist aggression go before we put our foot down?

Can we even begin to put our foot down?

Obama has given us very few options.

He's weakened us to the point that we have to rebuild everything we used to have, and all the while he will be fighting us tooth and nail. He wants us to be weak so we won't be a threat. Problem is, he doesn't have a clue what we're up against.

I wasn't the one who was elected to come up with solutions when that phone rang at 3am. Obama was and it's his job to come up with the solution. So far he's done what about it?
