So before Mao, was China well off? I mean mothers insisted kids eat all on their plates so the Chinese wouldn't starve. In any case maybe the world has found a way to create sound economies, become a communist state and then allow some capitalism.

What this should tell all of us is...........mixing capitalism/socialism/communism doesn't work. You can't begin to create jobs and tell the people to go for it, then throw free money at people in a workers paradise. What you end up with is class envy, and people who do create something being irritated by the people who take their just labors from them under the guise of fairness.
