Who "won" last night?....A Dem.'s perspective

It is difficult to define "win" in these political debates.

As I see it, there are three separate "scoring categories," two of which should be fairly irrelevant but aren't.

(a) Did the candidate seem "presidential"? Did s/he project an image of a Leader that the viewers would like to see in the White House?

(2) Did the candidate effectively communicate his/her points?

(iii) Was the substance of the candidate's points consistent with what the audience wanted to hear?

Contrast Trump with Walker. Trump was substantively made to look foolish (failed to back up his ridiculous claim about the Mexican government, failed to justify screwing his creditors out of billions through bankruptcy), but got generally positive reviews because many in the audience think bombast is leadership. Walker, from an accomplishments standpoint, was one of the top three people up there, but didn't look very "presidential" and didn't score well.

I wish this were like a tournament, where the losers have to go home and leave the future debates to those who did well. Hopefully, once there is some attrition it will be contagious.
His creditors would have taken every cent he had if he didn't have bankruptcy protections. I don't feel sorry for them. Not one bit. His defense on the border was a bit incomplete but considering what the word-police made of it....he didn't hurt himself.

Political-correctness is the problem here. The left wants certain segments of the electorate to be treated better than others. Any politician that buys into that nonsense loses my vote on general principles.

007 is nothing more than a far right wing operative, who wants the likes of a Cruz or a Carson. Heavens help America if that happened.

because George Soros' Chicago socialist meat puppet has worked out so well?
Your user handle minus the numbers is the sound effect my schwanze makes when it gets erect. Usually during debates when the red meat flies.

No, in all honesty though......my final analysis is that no candidate won really but fox lost. They put their agenda too above board. It was seeping out the ass cheeks and into the undies and socks.

I listen to a lot of talk radio, mostly left, but tune in to rightwing radio to see where they are at.

adding "at" is very poor English, where were you educated..., "at" :lmao:

you listen to lefty talk radio ? i had no idea there were any, where do you find them.., "at"
:lmao:

WOW!! how about that, :iagree: with 97% of that this librul said...., BUT!! that don't mean i will always agree with her.

LOL! I don't think you have the qualifications to be giving grammar lessons. :)

Governor Kasich came off as the sanest, unifying and experienced voice offered by the GOP.

FOX's unprofessional and calculated bad treatment of Trump, will actually boost his standing among those conservatives who have had enough of professional politicians. (If Fox can't "own" a republican, the powerful network wants that individual out.)

Third, Christie's performance was better than expected.

(P.S. As someone else stated, Walker is as interesting as an old phone book.)

I think Kasich showed he belongs at the grown up table but pandering to Trump turned my stomach
Rubio showed he can hold his own
Bush won by not being hurt
Cruz delivered at being Cruz
Christie was entertaining and battled with the best of them

Walker was boring as always. Unless he develops a personality, he is doomed
Carson was embarassing as he mumbled talking points and based his policy on God
Huckabee showed he is as out of touch as he was seven years ago
Paul seemed like a whiny little weasel

Trump was entertaining and showed he is willing to bring his newfound party down with him

Of course you like Kasich. He is a wuss.

And Christie? A lib ass sucker.

What makes Kasich a wuss?

He talked about helping the people.
Kasich is the only Republican candidate I actually fear. He's actually likeable and doesn't spew far rightwing rhetoric.

Spoken like a true leftwing operative, hoping some republican will buy that bull shit. Kasich isn't even on the radar as far as getting the nomination, and never will be.

This was no "debate." It was an all out fox news attack on Trump while they played patty cake with Bush, and if they thought that would go unnoticed, they're dumber than I thought they were. I lost the majority of what little respect I had left for fox news last night. They are establishment shills and hacks, and the bombastic gotcha questions they threw out in an all out effort to get candidates to fight with each other was a complete disgrace. Very little of what they asked was even worth a response. They virtually entirely neglected the most important issues facing this nation. What a bunch of pathetic assholes.
Hey......they're journalists living in New York

What did you expect?

I was super busy last night so I didn't watch the debate live. What I am gathering from last evening is that the moderators were hunting for some Trump.

only left-wing idiots think revealing a belief in God is something to be embarrassed of. as usual this idiot ^ has nothing of substance to say but takes up a lot of space saying nothing

Carson distinguished himself.

i :lmao: when Ben Carson said this:

“I’m the only one to separate Siamese twins,” he said to laughter and applause from the audience. “The only one to operate on babies while they were still in the mother’s womb, the only one to take out half of a brain – although you would think if you go to Washington someone had beaten me to it.”

i really like man..., BUT.., very sadly, he will never become president this time around.

Mostly because he hasn't checked any boxes......like being Senator and Secretary of State.

Using God as your justification for opposing abortion is one thing
God as your tax code is lame

Carson showed he is not ready for prime time

I dont know why Frocksnooze lets Luntz act smart because he polls people. The guy's a total dufus. Imagine him trying to kick it on a date with an attractive female? Smfh....lol, me either.
And no one could EVER convince me that that "fat slob" doesn't STACK his so called panels.

Fuck him, and fuck faux news.

Man alive! Megyn Kelly sort of made an ass out of herself last evening. lol

She drew Trump out which was her intention
She didn't DRAW HIM OUT... she DISRESPECTED the REPUBLICAN FRONT RUNNER like a PETULANT LITTLE SKANK. Now her facebook page is being blown up with negative comments and people are UNliking her page. It was an ALL OUT ATTACK on Trump, period. There was nothing FAIR or PROFESSIONAL about it. It may as well have been MSNBC and Debbie blabber mouth Shultz.

No doubt. While doing so she came across as a shill for the establishment. To me, for what it is worth, I think Paul was the most compelling candidate on the stage.

I did not find Paul compelling at all. As the only libertarian on stage he had an opportunity to stand out. He let himself get drawn in to petty bickering with Christie and Trump
