Why Aren't Millions of Americans Going to Cuba for Healthcare?

That's utter bullshit. Just compare our cancer survival rates with thoes European welfare states

So just curious, do your cancer survival rates include people who don't have access to health care? Because their cancer survival rate would be zero.

Bear513 just posred the sratistic that prove the US is best at curing cancer. That's "CURE," not treat the symptoms. As always, you're totally full of shit.

No, what he posted were cancer survival rates, but his link didn't include the folks who didn't have access to health care. Their cancer survival rate would be zero. So yes, the US looks good if you exclude all the people who don't have access to care. You just pretend they don't exist, right? How Christian of you.

People come from canada all the time for healthcare in the U.S.

You sure about that? And if they are coming, are they enrolling in insurance plans or are they paying cash?

They're paying cash.
And yes I'm sure of it since I had a couple from Canada at my house who were here for cancer treatment at MD Anderson the top cancer hospital in the world.
Add the fact that my Aunt and Cousin both worked in the Canadian healthcare system and have told me it's a common occurrence and they're the ones who told the couple to come to Houston.

Left wingers love to glorify brutal dictators. Their fucked in the head. Imprisoning people with opposing viewpoints is VERY liberal.

For years the left touted the Cuban healthcare system as being superior. Yet a year after Obama allowed Americans to travel there airlines cancelled flights because the planes were always empty.

Is everyone in America healthy or was the left just spewing more BS?
Millions would if they could afford it.
So middle and upper income people can't afford a $400 plane ticket but $2,000 a month for insurance?

They lied to you when they said there would be no math in this thread.

You think that Cubans would just sell their health care to Americans? I don't think so.

Some Canadian hospitals thought of catering to medical tourists and their citizens said "We bought and paid for this hospital and we pay to keep it running. If you have open spots for treatment, you take someone from the waiting lists and treat them. You don't sell them to foreigners.

I expect Cubans would have a very negative reaction to Americans wanting medical treatment, given the way your government treated Cuba.
When did the Cuban government ever care about what Cubans want? Do you imagine they wanted to be sent off to Angola to kill people they didn't know or care about?
When did the US Government ever care about what Americans want? Do you imagine they want to be sent off to Syria, Iraq, Iran, Viet Nam. North Korea, Afghanistan, to kill people they didn't know or care about?

Why would Canadiens come to the US for health care, when it is free in their own country? If Americans can't afford to pay a hospital bill, out of pocket, Canadiens cannot either.

Because the Canadian healthcare system sucks and when you've got cancer and your best chance at survival means spending your retirement you do it.

It really doesn't suck at all, in fact you know absolutely nothing about it. You wouldn't have enough money to pay for a lengthy stay in a US hospital. Now run along genius.

First of all, I don't believe you. Secondly, if these people did do that, did they enroll in an insurance plan or did they pay cash? It seems to me that your story is a little far-fetched since cancer treatment costs out of pocket would be prohibitively high for the Canadian. How did they afford that treatment? Cancer treatment is expensive as shit. How did they pay for it? If they were staying at your house (?), it would seem that they couldn't really afford the care there. Your story has some big plot holes in it.

I do not accept second-hand anecdotal information.

You're full of shit as usual.

There are no canceled flights nor are there empty planes flying to Cuba. Travel restrictions are still in place that would not allow for travel to Cuba for that purpose. As for the rest of your cock & bull, not worth mentioning.

Despite talk of wait times reduction initiatives (backed with substantial funding), Canadians face longer wait times than their counterparts in other developed nations for emergency care, primary care, specialist consultations, and elective surgery. Access to physicians and medical technologies in Canada lags behind many other developed nations. And things have improved little since 2003. For example, the total wait time in 2012 (17.7 weeks from GP to treatment) is every bit as long it was back then.

Don't be fooled by claims that health spending isn't high enough or that transfers for health care to the provinces have been insufficient. Canada's health care system is the developed world's
most expensive universal-access health care program after adjusting for the age of the population (older people require more care).

Canadians aren't suffering from health care underfunding; they're suffering from health care underperformance.

'Free' Health Care in Canada Costs More Than It's Worth

Now run along, genius.

And yes I know plenty about how shitty the canadian healthcare system is since my Aunt and Cousin both worked in it.

You really have no clue. Canadian healthcare is definitely not free, just as Medicare is not free. Medicare premiums may cost less, but considering most have been paying for Medicare for 30-40 years without being able to use it. The main complaint in Canada is the wait time, how many sick/dying people can wait 6-12 months just for an appointment.
