Why DeSantis hasn't announced his run for POTUS.

Apparently he's getting FL. legislative business taken care of first. Staying focused on the job he was elected to do.
The FL Legislative session ends May 5th.

But the law won't take affect until July 1 a few months behind everyone else before he can declare without having to resign on May 5th.

DeSantis needs to drop the gloves and go Bare Knuckle with Trump.
Trump is not pulling any punches and taunts DeSantis nonstop.
Meanwhile, DeSantis refuses to retaliate.

DeSantis needs to.

Tell voters straight up that Trump lost in 2020. Not that he was cheated but that he outright lost Red States like Georgia and Arizona and will lose them again

Remind voters that Biden beat Trump in 2020 and will do it again

Jan 6 was a real event and it disgraced the Republican Party. Jan 6 was Trumps fault and it will be used against Republicans
Hold Trump accountable

It doesn't matter. As long as he meets the deadline for all the states, it'll still work out. A couple of months isn't going to change anything. Especially if people are not wanting Trump or Biden.
FYI, people have been known to change their minds and endorsements when new facts arise.

Look at Elon. He voted or Biden in 2020. Now he's supporting DeSantis.

Yeah, those last things aren't going to win over moderate Trump supporters.

DeSantis is not going to win MAGA votes….Ever
He needs to position himself with Traditional Republicans who are tired of Trump

His message needs to be……We have linked our fortunes to Trump for eight years. It is not working. We need a new direction and I am that new direction

Right now, a lot of folks are feeling sorry for Trump over the whole Bragg indictment. I'm one of them. But not so much that I'm going to support Trump for POTUS.
He got a pretty big bump in the polls after all this went down. IIRC, if this goes to court in December, he'll get another bump.
If Trump gets one felony conviction, doesn't that force him out of the race?

I wish Trump would quit so DeSantis could run.
DeSantis is not going to run against Trump, that would be insanely dumb.
So we may very well get a rerun of 2020. Which is also insanely dumb.
Maybe you haven't been following US politics long. Insanely dumb is what we do.

Sure. That's what they're shooting for. But it's utterly stupid. If someone has enough support that they might actually win the election, blocking them on a technicality is a bandaid. And a dumb one. It will only make matters worse.

Democrats need to do some soul searching and actually consider why so many people in this country are fed up with them in the first place.

The dems have been dogpiling Trump for 6 years. So much so it helped Trump become a lousy, ineffective president. Like Carter lousy. Carter sucked, but he had some pretty good idea's to help make America energy independent and get us off the Federal Reserves tit. But he didn't have the support he needed to get anything he wanted done. And without that support, he ended up being ineffective and one of the worst presidents.
The only difference between Carter and Trump (along those lines) was Trumps ability to bullshit his supporters into not recognizing his ineffectiveness.
So to presume to effective, he caved to the left on almost every issue. From spending, to trade deals, to the debt ceiling and a whole slew of other issue.
If/when someone can get the MAGA crowd to understand just how much Trump caved and just how far left Trump has taken them, they'll mop the floor with him.
Then the indictment won't even be necessary.
