Shouldn't the 'unaltered irrefutable word of God' be the same year after year? Yet every Bible has a copyright. That seems...Odd. :)

Used to use biblegateway.com as my go-to resource liking in particular the variety of versions they have plus the 'listen to verse or whole chapter as audio' option. But they long ago prevented you from cut n pasting bits of text because of copyrights. Thought it was the word of God intended for all humankind? Not some modern person's propety to be protected?

I never knew there were copyrights.... who then gets the royalties?

Can Pink Floyd get sued for "Sheep"?
Excepting the bit about "He converteth me to lamb cutlets..."?

etc etc

Every version of every Bible has this same page just like any other book.

A copyright indicates something original.
The overwhelming number of Bibles not written in their original language and format supposedly are intellectual property.

People being able to read the bible has been the worst thing they could have done. Pope Damascus really fucked up.

Like Polytheists weren't killing each other before the Monotheist Bible came into play.

2 Peter 1:
19So we have the prophetic word made more sure, to which you do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star arises in your hearts. 20But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one's own interpretation, 21for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.

Translation is a laborious process. Translators need to get paid.

and full benefits----vacations, sick days, holidays ? half hour break time each 8 hours-------plus half hour lunch-----ie two 15 minute breaks and one half hour lunch? ---- ----and ice cream on weekends?

So translators should just work for free?

Copyright also protects the integrity of a work from corruption ... ensures when you buy an ESV it's an ESV not some sloppy copy of it.

And that's EXACTLY why there are literally THOUSANDS of Christian web sites damning each other to Hell because every other denomination is interpreting the Greek into English differently.

Actually, you may have a point in so far as God knows what He's putting into someone's mouth. The problem is those who interpret what the Prophet is saying. Even more problematic is the prophecy being read hundreds or thousand of years later.
The Torah, for instance, has multiple messages in each word God put into Moshe's mouth.
A simple word for word translation is pointless.

Not only that. They're interpreting the English differently.

If people want to know TJS that badly, let them take a course in Hebrew.
If people want to know TNT that badly, let them take a course in Greek.

You are so silly! Gateway does not prevent you from posting Scriptures! They have a website telling you how to cut and paste from their links to post scriptures online, Delta! Where do you come up with this nonsense?

Read this:

How do I get permission to use content on your website?

Your freedom to use or reprint content from a particular Bible is dependent on that Bible's copyright status. The following points explain how copyright works at the Bible Gateway.

1) Content on Bible Gateway falls into one of two categories: works that are in the public domain, and works that are under copyright. You can view a particular Bible's copyright status by clicking on its name here:

BibleGateway.com - 199 online Bibles in 72 languages, in text and audio format.

2) Public domain Bibles may be used freely, without restriction and without prior permission. The following Bibles in the English section of Bible Gateway are in the public domain and can be used freely without restriction or prior permission from us or anyone else:

King James Version (Crown copyright/Public Domain in the United States)
American Standard Version (No copyright information is available)
Darby Version (No copyright information is available)
Young's Literal Translation (No copyright information is available)
Worldwide English Bible (WEB) – in the Public Domain worldwide

Note that these works are in the public domain in the United States. Their copyright status may differ in other countries, so please check your local copyright laws before using them outside the US.
