It's honestly mind boggling that anyone who openly supports Sanctuary Cities would be against this idea. It makes perfect sense. I already gave you a good example of that. Let's say the next Democrat President wanted to increase taxes on corporations, but in order to make Republicans happy, only increased them in blue states and not red. The Republicans would be celebrating. Keeping taxes low, drawing more businesses to red states, better economy because of it........

It's a pretty good example of what Trump is doing. Democrats want as many immigrants as possible and conservatives want as little as possible. So there is a half-way point. Give Democrats what they want and Republicans what they want. I don't know how you could consider that vindictive unless you see these immigrants as a problem. Asylum is just to get a foot in the door. They know quite well that they don't qualify. But once they get here and make the claim, we let them into the country and that's when they disappear.
