Did he really? That's pretty funny.

He'll get them next time. obama is planning to default on the debt.

Obama to Wall Street: This time be worried

I've never seen a President declare War on his fellow Americans the way this guy has. It all gets back to his Marxist 'Community Organizing' past. It's all he knows. How many States has he sued since taking office? And the ugly NSA & IRS stuff? Clearly, he feels fellow Americans are the enemy. It's a travesty.

It's a travesty.

the Travisty is the Tea Party holding the House of Representatives hostage, refusing to allow a vote for a clean CR to restore the gov'ts role to represent all the people rather than a select few.

There's room for compromise. But the Dear Leader refuses to talk. It's the Chicago Way 'Community Organizing' at its worst.

Not hearing too many personal horror stories so far on this Shutdown. Honestly with all the hype, i thought there would be many. So far, i've only seen Government Workers and some Politicians doing a lot of fear mongering & complaining. Otherwise, it looks like most Americans are going about their lives as usual. All it has done is cause more Americans to have even less faith in Government. They see they can survive without Big Brother's heavy-handed iron fist interference in their lives. I think this Shutdown has actually done some real good.

Here's to hoping the shut down is permanent. Nothing but necessary functions being performed by our Government. What a brilliant idea!

Yeah, it's sad this is what it takes to get less Government. But i'll take what i can get. This is actually a good lesson for Americans. You can survive with less Government in your life. In fact, you'll likely thrive. Big Brother just gets in the way these days. And if you are struggling to survive this Shutdown, it shows that you're far too dependent on Government. Less Government is the logical way forward.

Ayup, I say the pubs should draw up a bill making the spending at the shut down levels permanent.

Why negotiate down from the biggest spending budget on the planet when we can start with bare essentials and negotiate up?

I agree. Great suggestion. But the GOP is currently controlled by Socialist/Progressive Republicrats, posing as Conservative Republicans. So it won't happen. This is a pretty good John Stossel piece from his show. It helps explain why the current Republican Party isn't really much different than the Democratic Party. This is on the War issue, but it pertains to the rest as well. It's all about the Socialists/Progressives...

Agreed.. and that's why I left the republican party.

The suicidal lemmings from the right side of the fence must be very happy with their latest government shutdown fiasco, that as a bonus took out their favorite target: the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB).

The government shutdown directly affects me, because I was depending on this federal agency to help me stop the unfair labor practices that I allege my corrupt union committed against me and others (that have kept me long term unemployed for too many years). Employees are in dire need of protection from the combined might of employers and unions who look to dismantle the National Labor Relations Act in order to protect themselves from unfair labor practice allegations (this is what we caught their legal counsel trying to do: dismantle workers rights to protection under the Act to save upper management's hide).

I am a union employee charging party in an ongoing NLRB Category III High Impact unfair labor practice charge against an unfair union and several employers involved in illegal blacklisting over several years that has led to a prolonged period of long term unemployment for me. This also involves a conspiracy to deprive rights to the National Labor Relations Act affecting hundreds of other union employees. The NLRB had just issued new investigative subpoenas on my behalf, and a settlement offer had just been made to the union and employers, who's case is very weak and growing weaker. But, now, thanks to the government shutdown, the union, who had just been forced to put me back to work last week for the first time in years, under pressure from the NLRB investigation, now has returned me to the blacklist this week and has not made any attempt to dispatch me as we hoped and expected. As soon as the government shutdown became official the unions legal counsel saw no need to entertain any settlement offer in the works, nor worry about investigative subpoenas nobody was around to enforce.

The unfair labor practices continue, because thanks to the shutdown there is no federal agency to stop the rights violating union and employers nor encourage them to change their illegal ways (affecting hundreds of other workers not just me). The shutdown halted ongoing investigations, court action, administrative hearings, representative election matters etc. leaving charing parties like me in legal limbo for who knows how long (with my unemployment soon to be exhausted).

This is the second legal pause workers seeking help from the NLRB like me have been forced to suffer: earlier this year this federal agency came under fire by the still unresolved Jan 2013 Noel Canning DC circuit court case that challenged presidential appointments made to the NLRB (and many other agencies). The NLRB was in legal limbo for much of the year already until the senate confirmed new board members this summer. The authority of the NLRB and key decisions made up to Noel Canning will be up in the air for years to come (greatly extending any resolution of my charge shutdown or not).

But that does not matter right now, because the NLRB is closed for business like many other important agencies, leaving legal matters on pause, and allowing advantage to go to those who break the law and violate rights. The NLRB is vital to me and many other struggling workers right now, and to the future of the labor movement that seems in question, but that's not as important as our pampered government officials and other rich folk being able to fly around the country as they like. The FAA and other agencies they need to function get funding, but the NLRB which many political hacks seek to dismantle can stay closed for as long as they can get away with it (a goal of the crazy rights anyway).

I am out of work this week and for who knows how much longer, until my NLRB charge can move forward, and the agency behind it regains its authority. My legal matters simply are stuck on pause for as long as our bickering and childish government lemmings keep fighting. The shutdown halted beneficial legal action on my behalf and may have caused a potential settlement to fall apart.

The shockwaves are just starting. 1600 of 1611 NLRB employees were just put out of work adding to the hundreds of thousands of government employees who's lives have been turned upside down as well. They are not being paid, unlike the spoiled losers in Congress, so all the businesses that usually benefited from their paychecks are just as screwed, like the ones near and dependent on National Park visitors (Yosemite ones are screwed post rim fire plus shutdown).

With our economy in the sad shape it is, we cannot afford this madness to go on, but it will and for weeks more than likely, at least up until the October 17 debt bomb goes off because most of these congressional lemmings are guaranteed to be reelected locally no matter what national damage they cause, thanks to the out of control congressional redistricting nationwide. Almost all of them are rich and powerful and mostly unaffected by the shutdown they created (both sides led us to this place), so the rest of us get to be pawns in the bitter partisan games they love to play for as long as they like.

Sorry to hear that. I'm sure it will get resolved though. And on a side-note, you may wanna look for other work. Doesn't sound like you're too happy with your current situation. Remember, only you can really make yourself happier & more prosperous. Good luck and God Bless.
