The ideological chasm between their "progressives" and the less loony party members may just cause those whose candidate isn't nominated to "hold their nose" in 2020 or sit it out as so many did in 2016.

OTOH some now view the divide as unbridgeable and permanent which may lead to multiple 3rd party (D) presidential candidates and even a #Walkaway led by one or more strong centrists (like Tulsi Gabbard) which could attract many centrists and even lead to the formation of a viable and competitive 3rd Party.

This week Gabbard announced she will not seek reelection to congress in order to focus on her presidential election campaign and she raised concerns about the impeachment process's lack of transparency, suggesting it is being run in a partisan way.

That has the sound of one who no longer wants to be associated with the lunacy of the "new & improved" Democrat Socialist Party.
