Why cant we just fix the ACA? its in place, both party's messed it up. that would save a lot of money, and no one has come up with a better plan.
The Republicans had nothing to do with the ACA.

They just voted to repeal it 62 times...till they got control of both sides of Congress and the White House and then all of a sudden no longer wanted to repeal it...
Millions of Americans want nothing to do with any type of socialized medicine

The obvious answer is an expansion of the entire Medicare / Medicare Advantage / Medicare Supplement system to all.

An excellent, already-functioning blend of a public foundation and free market competition and innovation.

It would take a massive cost monkey off the backs of American employers and give people their own plans.

Unfortunately, most people are ignorant of how that system works, or how it could be scaled. Too much thinking required.

So yeah, it's possible we'll have Single Payer shoved down our throats by default. Congratulations.
.

How is that the "obvious" answer? Medicare has a massive, unfunded debt already. How is far more massive debt the obvious answer?
Democrats stole 960 Billion from Medicare to fund their obamaturdcare madness!

If the vote failed then obamaturdcare was unaffected!

You miss the point; capital is a requirement to participate in our markets. Simply paying some Labor to pursue Happiness instead of profit will lead to improved market efficiency.
Lol. Love the point that capital is a requirement, blah, blah, blah. Too bad it is bull attempting to sound like you know what you are talking about. The only problem with making up things is someone will eventually call it for what it is. But hey an a for effort, f for actual content.

Capital isn't a requirement to participate in our markets? How then do you invest in anything? How do you start a business? Or expand one? How do you innovate, or hire somebody? It may not be the 1st requirement, that might be an idea or a concept. But from that point on, you gotta have money; how are you gonna eat and where are you gonna sleep while you pursue your dream? How are you gonna obtain the materials, the location, the energy (electricity), somebody had to spend money to allow you to even start.
I take it you did not read what was written before and just jumped in when you saw a few words. Capital is a requirement. You are correct.

But if you start reading what was first posted he was somehow trying to suggest unemployment compensation was not offered and was somehow linked to universal healthcare. After I told him that unemployment compensation was already available but required some one to actually work before collecting it he post a whole bunch of word salad that was basically trying to state that someone should be allowed to work or not work and still get paid.
the right wing is clueless and Causeless and don't care about being illegal to the law, as long as there are less fortunate illegals to "take it out on".

employment is at-will not for right wing, fake morality.
Son it is almost impossible to have a conversation with someone who wants so desperately right and still has no idea what they are talking about. Your best bet would be to commit to a mental hospital where they can give you the help you need. Since nothing you have said has anything to do with the original post I am finished with you. If at some point you want to have a serious discussion on the topic there are others and myself that have real thoughts on the issue.
the right wing prefers to be kettles calling pots, black.

I think the very next time the dems the presidency and both chambers of Congress we’re headed for single payer healthcare.

It will happen if Trump wins a second term. He has always favored single payer.

And when it is his idea all of his sheep will say it is the best idea ever

I dont think they will. If there is one thing you can say about the Republican party, it's that they have no qualms about criticizing their own. If you watch most of the major right wing talk shows and most of the right wing radio shows, this is evident.

I've seen and heard several of them going at trump for things they thought he messed up on. If trump supports single payer, you can bet he will lose his base, and right wing media will excoriate him over it.

Some will, but those like his zealots on this forum have never said a thing bad about him, they will accept anything that he tells them is true.
Sure, you're always going to have that element. However, as a whole, the Republican party is pretty good at criticizing their own elected officials.

it was repealed until old senile McCain took his final shot at Trump and voted no. that bitter corrupt old man could not get over Trump winning where he lost. The country is better off without him.

and in the UK, Canada, Scandinavia, etc, IT AINT FREE. It is paid for with huge tax increases on EVERYONE. AND some bureaucrat in the capital is making healthcare decisions for each person, not that person and his/her doctor. Like government run medicine? Try the VA.

Bullshit. In Canada, the medical decision is between a doctor and the patient.

maybe, but the determination of when the procedure can be done is made by some bureaucrat in Ottawa.

If you don't know the difference between our current Medicare system and Single Payer, go and educate yourself.
SInce we're having a discussion...how about YOU tell us how you think they differ
To make a very long story short, our Medicare system includes a significant free market component in the form of Medicare Supplements, Medicare Advantage Plans and Prescription Drug Plans, and true Single Payer does not.
.

... and every one of those plans is paid for by whom?
Medicare Supplements are paid for by the owner of the policy.

Medicare and Medicare Advantage plans are paid for by taxpayers.

It's amazing how many people have absolutely no idea how our Medicare system works, but pretend that they do.
.
Tell me about it. Most people don't realize it's a feeding trough for the insurance industry, for example.

medical insurance companies are not high profit corporations. Now, shall we discuss the profit rates of big pharma? Apple, google, FB?

I've gone over this many times, and I'm not inclined to type out an explanation of the whole system. If you have specific questions, let me know.

People need to realize there is no need for the nanny state

Because they were lied to. Republicans ran on repealing it. You can fault voters for being gullible, but you can't say they voted for socialism. That's just not so.

Doesn't matter. They're feeding, directly, on taxpayer dollars and it needs to stop.

Are you deliberately lying here, Mac? That doesn't seem like you, but you know damned well I'm talking about core Medicare, not the supplemental shit. The basic setup was designed to preserve insurance companies profits. Why do you keep steering around that? What kind of blinders are preventing you from acknowledging the basic facts about what we're delaying with? How can we have an honest conversation as a nation when so many of you play the obfuscation games?

So what's the alternative??
Drop all the regulatory and tax policies pushing employer-provided health care. Use the Commerce clause as it was intended and bust up the regulatory fiefdoms that insurance companies have established at the state level.

No, the core Medicare system does not go through private insurance companies. They get involved with Medicare Advantage plans and Medicare Supplements.

I'll say it again: I've done years of training on this system. For six years I was the financial guy in the room when one of the primary insurance providers put together the Medicare Advantage plans, piece by piece, benefit by benefit, cost by cost, for every last county in my state.

If you want to think I'm lying or playing games, great.

I have significant professional training and professional hands-on experience on this. Do you?

Tell me, (I should admit that I detest MAPD plans) what is the Gov funding level with these plans?

None for Supplements, which simply fill the many gaps in Medicare. For MA plans, it's a PM/PM (per member per month) stipend, around $1,000 a month last time I checked, on average. There are a few variables, including age and geography.

MA plans are great for lower-income people, Supplements with a PDP are definitely better if you want full coverage.
