but in public he was a buttoned down good old boy

Indeed. One truth about Ol' Willie, he does things his way. I don't have to agree with someone to respect that.

You bet! And I DO really like his music. I own the last six or seven CD's he released, in the last six or seven years or so, and he STILL sounds great. He IS a national treasure.
