Why is the sun as finite as oil?

That's missing the point - intentionally I might add - by definition renewables are less reliable sources of electrical generation than fossil fuels because renewables are intermittent. If you want them to be an apples to apples comparison you need to install extra generating capacity and battery storage. Anything less will cause disruptions to service especially under severe situations. It's not easy to swing power plants without expecting disruptions in supply.
