With the 4th largest proven oil reserves what is Iran's need for "peaceful purposes" nuclear program

they lack refining capabilities. they also need to sell that oil.
But they have enough money to spend on nuclear weapons?
That's how oppressive regimes work.

North Korea can't feed its people. It even tried to settle an international debt by paying it off with ginseng. I kid you not.

But they have a nuclear weapons program.

You are an idiot.

What other country has threatened to use nuclear weapons?? None except for Iran.

North Korea is another country no one will trust with a nuke.

The fact that many countries have them doesn't mean anything. Any country having nuclear weapons does everything they can do to not need them. The threat of them is more than enough.

Grow the fuck up.

The U.S. has been proven to be a far more dangerous violent country than Iran. In the last 30yrs alone, how many countries has the U.S. invaded and how many people has it slaughtered in the process? Now compare that with Iran. So who has the more just argument for Nuclear capabilities? Something to ponder, no?

How many countries have we used a nuke on??

Something to ponder. No??

....and what is the purpose of giving them 11 billion dollars back? They'll disburse that money to other terrorist organizations...we're helping fund islamic global terror.
Before the sanctions are lifted, Iran will have to destroy 98 percent of its enriched uranium, and all of its 5 to 20 percent enriched uranium, end all enrichment at Fordow, and remove more than two thirds of their centrifuges, including all their advanced centrifuges.

The IAEA must certify these conditions have been met before the sanctions can be lifted.

Nonsense.

Try Afghanistan. All they had to do was hand over the 9/11 terrorists

al qaeda and ISIS are American creations. Iran despises them. Next...

Burning oil for electricity is like burning cash. I have no doubt that they wanted a Bomb but nuclear power makes sense for anyone that can build the plant and maintain it. In our own country when we are being charged peak rates during periods of high demand they are burning oil.

Why aren't we building more nuke plants?
We have more nuke plants than everyone else put together.

What purpose is Iran's nuclear program?

Under the deal, Iran will maintain the ability to enrich uranium but only for peaceful purposes.
Iran’s Nuclear Program - Bloomberg QuickTake

IRAN has the world's largest
proven oil reserves: 154.58B. Total oil supply in 2012 (thousand barrels per day): 3,538.4M
International sanctions have drastically impacted Iran’s energy sector – the country’s oil production fell dramatically in 2012, from over 35 million barrels per day in 2011 to just over 3.5 million bpd in 2012.

Top 10 Countries With The World’s Biggest Oil Reserves | GEAB

while oil and hydroelectricity accounted for 42 and 2 percent respectively.
It is estimated that some 18.5 percent of electricity generated in Iran are wasted before it reaches consumers due to technical problems.
Energy in Iran - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

So a simple mind like mine asks a simple question:
1) why is there ANY need for nuclear research for "peaceful purposes" if Iran as the 4th largest proven oil reserves.
2) Why is there any need to spend $100 billions on nuclear research when 18.5% of their electricity generated is wasted before it reaches consumers?

To me a simple minded person the only answer is : Nuclear weapons!

You smarter people on this forum then me explain why there is a need for "Peaceful purposes"
to do nuclear research from a country that wastes 18% of it's electricity and has 4th largest oil reserves?

Has any of the brilliant Obama intelligentsia answered that question?

Again my conclusion is nuclear weapons!

To wipe Israel and the "Great Satan" off of the face of the Earth. Oh, you said peaceful......never mind.

Well, if I'm an Iranian, Bushii's misadventures in Iraq would give me pause.

Seriously folks. I need a defender of the Iranian Deal to explain the need for "peaceful purposes" nuclear program!

Just because you are an idiot doesn't mean Iran doesn't want a peaceful nuclear power program.

If you use less oil and gas for electricity, that's more oil and gas for export. Idiot.

They can also sell electricity to neighboring countries. Mo' money! Mo' money!

Iran produced 254 billion kWh gross in 2012, with consumption of about 200 TWh, per capita about 2600 kWh/yr. Its 2012 electricity production comprised 170 TWh from gas, 69 TWh from oil, both of which it has in abundance, 12.5 TWh from hydro which is less reliably available, and 2 TWh from nuclear power. Demand is growing about 4% per year, and Iran trades electricity with Afghanistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Iraq, Pakistan, Syria, Turkmenistan and Turkey. Net export is about 7 TWh/yr.

In 1974 the Shah announced a target of 23,000 MWe of nuclear capacity to free up oil and gas for export.

Correct.

Burning oil to generate electricity is inefficient, wasteful, and ridiculous.

Honesty alert!

They most likely want a bomb. That said, no one can stop them

We make deals to slow them down or set a trap that allows us a military strike, but the inevitability...unless that nation changes leaders...

The mullahs have stated often enough that its their intention to annhilate Israel. Obama, the Jewish peoples new savior....... Who knew? Lol

The Soviet Union stated often enough their intention to annihilate the US.

We still made treaties and agreements with them. And even though the USSR cheated on every treaty and agreement they ever signed, the world was made safer.

Even Reagan negotiated treaties with them.

And you know who was shitting their pants over a nuclear exchange the whole time?

Liberals.

The modern day "conservatives" remind me in so many ways of the pessimistic, whiny, fearful lefties of the 70s and 80s.

One. and the context is how many since that one? We've had wars and have never used the nuke option since.

Tactical nukes will be used one day. They will NOT destroy the world.

The IAEA must certify these conditions have been met before the sanctions can be lifted.

From the following report:
Iran: U.S. Economic Sanctions and the Authority to Lift Restrictions

Dianne E. Rennack

Specialist in Foreign Policy Legislation

from page 4......
"To lift the majority of the economic sanctions imposed by CISADA, the President must determine and certify that the government of Iran no longer supports acts of international terrorism.

And here is how the President would determine and certify...

The President holds the authority to remove the designation of any country from the terrorist list. Though each of the three laws provides slightly different procedures, the authority to delist Iran resides with the President, and generally requires him to find that
  • there has been a fundamental change in the leadership and policies of the government;
  • the government is not supporting acts of international terrorism; and
  • the government has assured that it will not support terrorism in the future.

    Not the IAEA OK????
