The two situations aren't remotely comparable.

Home defense laws and deadly use of force guidelines for law enforcement officers are not interchangeable.
In some states, you break in, you can be shot. We don't know anyone's intent when breaking into a home and I'm not going to wait to find out.

At least with the police, the offender has the option to surrender and be arrested. I'm not arresting anybody trying to break into my shit. I'd just shoot them in the face with no questions asked. And don't expect me to perform CPR either.
