‘You don’t have to die in your seat’: Democrats stress over aging members

The fault lies with the electorate. The problems never get resolved yet the majority of voters keep embracing incumbency. As long as they do nothing and get rewarded, why would they want to retire…

At least one Democrat is thinking.

"But Democrats have been grappling with a noticeable generational divide within their ranks for some time — President Joe Biden and top Democratic congressional leaders are all well over 70. Ten of the 12 House members over the age of 80 are Democrats."

Ginsberg refused to retire, Breyer is being pushed to make way for a replacement while Democrats hold DC

But BOTH parties need to consider replacements for our elder 'statesmen'.

Thoughts?
I suppose their children could take their place, but understand, America is now an aristocracy.

In fact, Joe Biden made it a point to hire the children of his cronies, just like Hunter made millions from his daddy being President.

In his case, everyone else he hired stabbed him in the back.

So if I were him, I would have had to do the same thing.

No one dare ever turn on democrats, no matter how corrupt they become.

Just look how they handle corrupt politicians like Cuomo. Here is a man who put Covid patients in nursing homes as hundreds of thousands died from it as a result, and then tries to cover it up? Don't even mention the long line of women who say he molested them. All you get is a red faced Biden asking Cuomo to resign, doing it only once and then sweeping it all under the carpet with the help of the media.

When? When people quit electing them. This is not a problem with the politician but with the electorate.
There is truth to your statement, however, once a politician is in office, the advantages of incumbency are hard to overcome. One solution is ranked voting. I am glad it is being tried around the country.
An incumbent's power base grows day by day. Without term limits, that power base becomes a moat, and the playing field is nowhere near being equal.

Try to fathom the fact that most all people work to scrape by. Yet somehow we elect rich people from both parties believing some how they know what's best for those so incredibly hard working barely making it. It is truly a phenomena. It needs to stop.

Screw the parties - when will the American people wake up?! Both parties are screwing Americans to some extent or another.

For POWER, leftist extremists and Democrats are protecting a dementia-ravaged proven criminal politician / President.

For POWER, POLITICAL IDEOLOGY, & AGENDA extremists are attempting to indoctrinate our kids using Marxist teaching / instruction

FOR POWER liberal extremists have ceded our sovereignty, national security, and economic prosperity for our middle class by enforcing an Open Border that violates Constitution and existing Immigration Law.

For God knows what our politicians have surrendered out energy independence, strengthened and supported foreign adversary energy production/distribution, and put thousands of Americans out of work.

For personal / party political gain both parties are cooperating on Trillion dollar pieces of legislation, 95% of which has nothing to do with what the legislation claims to be about - case in point, the agreed-upon trillion dollar 'Infrastructure' bill Biden just blew up. 95% of the spending n that bill has nothing to do with Infrastructure.

It seems more and mre our elected officials are working for themselves and anyone except WE, the American people.

Only in America do we elect Senior Citizens to represent us only to see them go to D.C. and behave like spoiled infants.

Some of our boys & girls in D.C. are going through their 12th childhood, perhaps we should just start electing pre-schoolers, after all the average pre-schooler isn’t as ill-tempered, irrational, deceptive and self serving as most of the morons in currently in Congress.

As long as money is allowed to buy politicians, nothing will change.
Well gipper, with all the money we spend on buying politicians you’d think that we’d at least be able to buy a few good ones, how do we end up always buying the bad apples of the bunch?

Right, it's OK for your guy but not the other guy. Not doing something you can not do (overturn an election like he thought Pence should do) is not stabbing you in the back.

I did not say it was right In fact, there if precious little that is right in the US Federal government.

And I'm not naïve enough to think that Trump could have made it right all by his lonesome.

They basically destroyed him and his family

In fact, I think Trump was allowed to win so that they could do just that, just to send a message and warning to all those who think they can make a difference all by their lonesome.

Well, look at our society, our culture. Folks can tell you who won "Dancing with the Stars" but they don't know the name of either of the last two Vice Presidents.

If we choose to continue the current system as is, we're just bending over for what we get. Just another self-inflicted wound. We tend to specialize in that.

Yep, maybe we should take the party labels off the ballot and just put price tags next to each candidates name at least that way voters could make some informed buying decisions.:dunno:

Voters know but they pull the lever anyway.

Voters only know 2 things

1. Orange man bad

2. Besides, January 6th.

And really that is all they will ever need to know.................
