cut the entire federal budget by 20%, including SS and medicare and medicaid. And congressional salaries, presidential salaries, all of it.

Why on earth would you cut Social Security to lower our deficit and national debt increases/debt ceiling.... when social security has NEVER ADDED A SINGLE DIME to the budget deficits, or National Debt? Let the other discretionary over spending that congress does each year be cut....the culprits, NOT Social Security! Or raise taxes to pay their bills! Or both cuts and tax increases!

Then they gave the wealthy more income tax cuts after using our social security surplus funds to pay their normal income tax bills, or...to pay for the income tax cuts always benefiting the wealthiest the most....Robyn Hood, in reverse!

SS is the largest federal budget item. Not sure what you are talking about.

No one said to cut SS and Medicare if you can find a quote let us hear it.... however both SS and Medicare will run dry in 7 years so to do nothing is the worse thing any of us can do... but all Biden wants to do is use it as a political hammer... he is old school politics in that way...

Presently, all incomes over $160,000 do not pay SS tax. That needs to change. I know the repubs will fight it. But moving the income to $200,000 or $250,000 would solidify the programs.

It would also raise taxes on those workers by about 88%. In heavily taxed states, that would raise their total tax burden to about 60% of their income.

sorry but a biased newsweek article does not make your case, it is full of lies. Reworking SS and medicare is not the same as cutting them. They need reworking to reflect the current working lives and retired lives of US citizens. Medicare should not be given to people here illegally.

and the lower 50% of workers pay zero federal tax, should that change? Shouldn't everyone have some skin in the game? The top 5% pay 40% of all federal income taxes. Should that change? By the way no corporation pays any federal tax, we pay it for them in the price of everything we buy, what is your plan to fix that?
