These surplus foods were then distributed to anyone with any kind of government ID or card such as unemployment, Social Security, welfare, disabled veterans, etc.

Many of the old big name companies sold out to foreigners. A lot of people simply will not buy their shit as their health and the health of their children goes downhill.

Your list is a gross exaggeration and contains some things that are just nonsense. To start with, you are blaming 1.8 million for the problems of a society and nation of 320 million. Many of those souls, probably the largest percentage are children. Another large percentage are working families. That is, families with one or more members working, but still being eligible for food subsidies.
Again, the major force behind the current food subsidy programs are not moral or even liberal attitudes. The forces behind the current food stamp programs are food companies that sell often expensive and poor choice food products to the poor.
