$10.10. A killer for the rich.

New Zealand minimum wage - $13.75 ($11.22 U.S.).
Unemployment rate at November 2013 - 6.2%.
30.2% of workers are employed by small businesses (20 workers or less).
Unemployment has been decreasing from a high of 7.3% a year ago.

It's not so bad.

:cuckoo:
This $10.10 minimum-wage for government contract workers isn't going to hurt the businesses. All they will do is just increase the contract amount that they're asking and the Government will accept the contract. Taxpayers get stuck with the increased cost and get it in the end.

You may think so, but when contract costs are given to workers, each $1.00 increase equates to $1.70 back into the economy.

:cuckoo:
OMG! When are people going to realize a government does not create weath when it spends our money. If anything, it creates poverty and misery.

Why did Obama ask for a $10.10 minimum wage? All this will do is take away the power of the government from the private sector and put in the hands of a bunch of senseless Americans. We as Americans must realize that the rich are the people that offer the true economic opportunities that this nation has to offer. The $10.10 minimum wage will bring the social classes together and there won't be any room for mobility. We must keep corporate America.

What?

The last time we raised the Federal Minimum Wage was in 2009. Since 2009, the cumulative rate of inflation is 8.6%.

As it stands, the Federal Minimum wage is $7.25. 8.6% of $7.25 is 62 cents.

To reflect the proper increase in inflation(which has been very minimal in the past 5 years), minimum wage should be $7.87.

Do you know what it takes to EARN enough money to pay for housing, food, clothing, a car, car & home insurance, utilities, furniture, and a few luxuries?!?!?

.

To him that's the responsibility of the employer...but I suspect he/she/it is a moocher in real life. You know? A Liberal.

Actually , the parasite is protecting his welfare political demagogue's "right" to dictate to a PRIVATE employer how much their employees should be making.

.

How much money workers should get for their work has nothing to do with welfare parasiting. You sound very mixed up.

As a conservative, I'd like to support you but wtf are you saying?

Raising the minimum wage won't affect the rich at all. It will kill off the small business owner and put more money in the control of the huge corporations.

What's the net cost of a $10.10/hr employee vs. minimum wage employee?

Most likely not a cost at all, but instead a GAIN, once you factor in the increased sales from the increase in disposable income.

Not it isn't debatable. It belongs to the PEOPLE...period. Not into property rights of the individual, are you?

Cease with the grammar police shit son.

It belongs to the PEOPLE who work for it, at a FAIR rate. What that fair rate is, just happens to be debatable. And they're debating it in the halls of Congress right now, as we type.

Will you vote for a politician who states that it is NOT within Congress' Constitutional authority to dictate to a private business how much workers should be earning?!?!?

:hellno: Are you kidding ? Why would I ever do that ? I'd vote for one who proposes to raise the MW to $20/hour (at least) And this would be good for both workers and business owners.

Do I know what it takes to earn ? I told you what I've done in my life, over 50 years in the workforce, so what do you think ? BTW, as combat construction specialist in the Army, I did the hardest work in America for 5 years. Sunrise to sunset. Cold or heat. In full fatigues (sometimes tactical in full combat gear). Rain or shine. Don't believe it's the hardest ? Go watch the Army Corps of Engineers putting up an M4T6 bridge sometime. Some people get worn out just watching.

So you worked for 5 years.

Some of us have to work until we die.

But my neighbors nor do taxpayers owe me a living.

A long time ago I decided that I needed a minimum wage to make me happy. I was able to obtain the same by VOLUNTARILY TRADING my marketable skills with my employer. He makes money and I make money.

He was not forced at gun point to pay for my services.

Try reading your quote again, I said I worked for 50 years. Can't you read ?

Your assuming that $7.25 is correct, which it isn't.

Your assuming that 8.6% inflation is correct, which it's not. The Major Problem With CPI And How It Hurts The Economy - Forbes

If you take the cost changes of three key items from 1970-2013 which are housing, food, transportation, minimum wage should be $23.50/hr.

It should be FREE MARKET!!! NO minimum wage.

If McDonalds can find people willing to flip burgers for $1 and hour, then so be it, THAT is what their labor is worth.

Im tired if all these left wing fags saying labor is worth more than what the market SAYS its worth.

If you stock shelves at Costco, and Costco can get someone to do it just as well for $3 an hour, then THAT is what your labor is worth. Get over it or get another job.

A truly free market promotes greed. Greed is bad.

An unrestrained free market is like an unrestrained hurricane, free to do whatever may occur, without preventive measures (boarded windows, sand bags, evacuations, etc)

Yet people who earn the minimum wage can still buy the most advanced phones, own a computer, and access the most advanced library the world has ever seen.

Shouldn't need to explain it to you. It should be common sense. Raising the minimum wage increases the cost of everything. How will those people be able to afford it after inflation?

FALSE! Raising MW has no effect on prices. (generally)

That's just plain idiotic nonsense.

"Plain idiotic nonsense" is worthless rhetoric. Empty as hominem attacks are just that > empty. Come back when you have some substance with which to support your post.

Because money is magic.

Which is why the black market has resulted in higher drug prices and less access to drugs.
