This is going to be a massive weakness for any argument they have. It's not enough to just obstruct, you have to come up with some ideas.

Even the Tea Party movement in its desire to obstruct came out with some clear, concise ideas. MY guess is that far too many in the Democratic party are far left, Bernie supporters, and they know that their ideals will simply divide the Democrat voter, draw the center voters to the GOP and leaving the socialists to stay with the Dems.

I feel sorry in some ways for their party. American politics is very divided right now, I hope capitalism and libertarian leadership win this battle. For this reason alone, the tax cuts are extremely important, I wish they would have gone even further with the middle class in particular, but if corporations expand and hire (as I, and many are predicting they will), it's going to be a very tough climb for the Dems.

If job numbers fly through the roof, the GOP tell the voters for 2020 in particular, "all those jobs you currently have (say, 3, 4, 5 million or whatever it is) will all be lost. Your tax cuts will all be lost. Stick with the GOP and make our party even bigger so we can be more bolder in MAGA".

In the defense of the Ds they have stopped, at least temporarily, their bleeding out of support on the state and local level. Their blue wall is headed for bankruptcy and with robbing Peter, Paul and Mary they have managed to slow that down. The tax bill will create Armageddon in the Blue Wall because of their sky-high state and local taxes. 2020 will be the last time in a very long time that they will have any chance of winning the White House because they will lose so many Purple and Blue state congressional seats due to migration to solidly red states. Given that kind of hand what would you do?
