Lake Research Partners released a new poll Thursday with dire implications for Democrats should Social Security cuts happen on their watch. And once again, the economy and jobs combined whomped the deficit as the primary concern of voters, 42 to 6.

Overall, of the 1,200 likely voters surveyed, 82% of respondents oppose Social Security cuts to reduce the deficit, including 83% of Dems, 78% of Independents, 82% of Republicans, and 74% of Tea Party supporters.

The only thing "socialist" about Social Security is the first word of the name.

The government isn't providing anything to anyone.

These are monies that we pay in and get returned to us.

If there are to be cuts in the amounts paid out there must be equal cuts in the amount taken in by the Fed.

There are any number of ways to reduced the deficit without reaching into what is supposed to be a lock-box account.

Its "socialist" because the government taxes you, then invests for you, then gives it back to you. That is "socialism." It certainly isn't free market.

I see no reason to disbelieve the poll, though I would say its a bit of stretch to say that Americans love "socialism" in general because of Social Security.

Americans have yet to grasp that it everyone will need to sacrifice something. To think that people can have a tax cut, not touch social security, medicare, the military, etc., and balance the budget by cutting "waste" and other trivial items such as government wages is an absolute fairy tale.

Hey, I have to admit, I'm with Republicans on this one. Screw Americans. Let the unfortunate ones starve or live on the street. They can always eat leftovers at some church. Republicans did their jobs stopping abortion. But once the kid is born, they are on their own.

If Americans spend their lives working at a plant that needed to be moved overseas so a few can "make more money", then so be it. That's the way our founding fathers wanted this country to operate. It's all about the super rich squeezing out a few more bucks.

We don't want royalty here. We don't need them. We have multi millionaires and billionaires. They are special and so important to the country. This is why they need to be protected. Why we need to cut their taxes and exempt them from anything that might help the country. They are THAT important.

Obviously, the best way to cut the deficit is to cut benefits for the elderly, those with disability and those on Social Security. The trillions in tax cuts for billionaires needed to happen. It's expensive creating new jobs in China.

In fact, we can give so much more to the super rich if we just:

Cut education
cut building the infrastructure
cut fixing roads
get rid of the EPA
End those pesky clean air and clean water regulations
Close emergency rooms at hospitals (too expensive)


If people want to work, they can become "Cannon Fodder First Class" in the Military. But don't come back injured.

What we need to do is issue more apologies to companies that we charged with fraud and environmental damage. We need cut their tax completely and pay them to "stay" so they can make enough money to make more jobs, "in China". We hate socialism. Unless it's Chinese. Then it's OK.
