I don't think anyone here disagrees with that statement on it's face. The issue is this case is not that simple. The McMichaels went above and beyond what Georgia law allows for a citizens arrest. The incident we see in the video according to the father himself was at least the 3rd time the tried to cut Ahmaud off. Ahmaud is under no obligation to talk to these guys. There's no doubt this was harassment and not a citizens arrest. A jury will decide if Ahmaud had the right to assume a defensive position when he ran around the right side of the truck. IMO it looks like from the video that Ahmaud is attempting to avoid them for a 3rd time until Travis moves to the front of the truck and forces the issue.

The video shows the guy jogging down the street. When the pickup stops in front of him he doesn't break stride or run faster, he simply runs to the passenger side of the truck. Travis McMicahel can be seen moving from the driver's side to the front of the truck, with a shotgun.

The most damning part of this is that the jogger didn't happen to just run upon these guys. They armed themselves and they chased him down. That absolutely cannot be denied, especially since the two white guys admit to doing exactly that.

There were two of them, and one of him. Why did they need guns?

The 9-1-1 call was placed at 1:08pm to report a black man trespassing in a house under construction. The man took off running. At 1:14 another call was made to 9-1-1 to report the fleeing burglar. It was the same man.

He was not out “jogging” as the media claims. He was caught red handed trespassing. They also recognized him from previous video of burglaries.

How many “lynchings” do you know where the person allegedly committing the “lynch” calls the police before and during the “lynch” to report a crime?

The guy was jogging (his gait was not that of someone trying to escape). The truck had gotten in fron of him and stopped. Travis McMichael exited the vehicle (he was driving) and stood on the driver's side. When he saw Ahmaud run the the passenger side, he went in front of the truck and confronted Ahmaud. Now, we can't see exactly what took place in front of the truck, but it's well within the realm of possibility that McMichael got in front of Ahmaud to impede his running. Obviously McMichael was close enough to Ahmaud for there to be a scuffle over the shotgun.

The important things to keep in mind here is that Travis McMichael, the guy who killed Ahmaud, never actually saw any video of anyone. He was acting on what his father told him.

You could try that as a defense in a thousand courtrooms and it will fail in every single one of them.

Also, Ahmaud had been seen jogging in that neighborhood before. Not trespassing and not breaking into houses, but jogging. Apparently, it was just about his favorite pastime.

And wouldn't you like to see the video that allegedly exists of Ahmaud trespassing and breaking into homes? Where is this video? Don't you find it the least bit odd that we have video of the actual murder and video of the murderer's arrest, but not the video which was the catalyst behind the whole affair?

A reasonable person would have to question whether or not such a video actually exists.
