We have several progressive democrats who are calling for a "Green Deal" and we even have one candidate (the WA governor) who is basing his entire platform on combating climate change, etc.
I am far from arguing the DIRE necessity for the saner party to address this important, survival issue (there is even a federal lawsuit pending, that is making its climb to the SCOTUS for a decision that would hold the federal government in liability for not tackling this issue head-on.)
HOWEVER, the mistake that the Dems. are making is in the VERBIAGE of the policy......Keep stating "Green Deal" and you'll have every greedy energy conglomerate pouring millions to republican congress folks to further deny what is obviously happening to our climate.
INSTEAD, Dems, need to label the policy and effort as an "ECONOMIC Deal"......flaunting American ingenuity to harness NON-polluting energy, and turning such ingenuity into hundred of thousands new jobs and investments that could have the rest of the planet envious of our efforts.
Sure, our current energy companies....and Saudi Arabia, Russia, Iran and dozens of other countries would not like such efforts....but, let them all diversify, develop other economies AND help our ailing planet.
