Imagine this... A Female Disabled War Vet, who is pregnant, is being refused the right to vote because her doctors are telling her she can't travel to voting place. So she asks for the right to vote by Absentee ballot.

Sounds like something that would happen only if Republicans, who hate all women and want to take away their rights, were in charge.. Right?

Wrong.

This is an Elected Democrat House member who can't make it to Washington DC, per her doctor, to vote on the Democrat's House Leadership and Chairman position elections.

Oh.... And it is Pelosi and other women leading the charge against her.

Dems Deny Duckworth a Proxy Vote in Democratic Leader Elections - NationalJournal.com

The Iraq War veteran, who lost both legs when her helicopter was shot down in 2004, made the request in a letter to fellow Democrats. Her letter was read during a closed-door Democratic Caucus meeting on Thursday. But objections were raised, and the request was denied, with opponents including Democratic Steering and Police Committee cochair Rosa DeLauro of Connecticut and Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi.

But other Democratic aides, speaking on the condition they not be identified, said they believe the decision to block Duckworth, 46, from doing so is related more to the tight intra-party race for the party's top seat next session on the Energy and Commerce Committee. The seat is being vacated by retiring Rep. Henry Waxman.

What's this about a "War On Women" and the "suppression of the vote"?

If an 'absentee' vote's never been given for this sort of vote then it's Democratic in-fighting and thus wrong. If it's an unprecedented request that'd be something else.

It's a rule of the Democratic caucus. Right after Duckworth's exception request came up, another Democratic house member wanted an exception to go to a funeral.

The party decided to avoid a slippery slope mess and stand firm on the rule as it stood.
