A question about I.C.E.

You want your local sheriff to use local tax dollars to jail people who would be released for a crime they were arrested for if they were not undocumented, you are certainly free to pursue that politically.
Negative - nice try to spin.

'The Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency (ICE) posted the DHS ‘detainer’ report that shamed dozens of noncompliant sanctuary cities announced that more than 200 illegal aliens who had been detained for breaking the law were released from custody from local jails across the United States – in the face of requests from federal officials to briefly hold them.'

Even though the detainer requests only required the criminals to be held for two days or less, hundreds of refusals by local police departments were recorded.

“In these cases, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency asks local police to hold illegal immigrants for up to 48 hours – long enough for ICE officers to pick them up and put them into deportation proceedings”

'local governments sent the message to Washington that they have no intention of abiding by the federally imposed mandate'

Felons and other serious offenders are held by local agencies and cannot make OR or bail if they are not legally in the country. Those who have traffic violations, a petty theft or other minor misdemeanors are the ones protected by local authority.

So, this is a new agency, part of the multiple layers of government and bureaucracy that was added after 9/11.

We as a country survived and thrived for 227 years without ICE, why is it now the linchpin to our very survival as a county?

They have a budget of more than 6 billion dollars a year, what do we get for that money? Does anyone have any stats on the return we are getting for that money since ICE was started in 2003?

It's pretty obvious that you don't know what Immigration and Customs Enforcement is or what they do.

Well, then educate me. Give me as actual facts and stats about what they do and why they are worth 6 billion a year.
All in the thread, read up, it’s your thread

Nobody has been able to quantity what ICE does.

That's because you are stupid and talking to a rock accomplishes nothing.

Killing Indians is illegal now.

.

Especially those arrested repeatedly, deported 6 or 7 times, etc...under Obama. :p

Post those you claim have been arrested repeatedly and deported 6 or 7 times. I can think of one, but maybe he was deported under GWB and Obama. However, Obama did less deportations and more catch and release at the border than did GWB, GHWB, Clinton or Reagan. C&R is more cost effective than deportations and as effective.

Post those you claim have been arrested repeatedly and deported 6 or 7 times.

'Post those you claim have been arrested repeatedly and deported 6 or 7 times'

How about deported 20 (TWENTY) Times?!

'An undocumented immigrant who has been deported to Mexico 20 times has been sentenced to 35 years in prison for two violent assaults earlier this year.'

Undocumented immigrant sentenced to 35 years in prison for violent rape, assault

'Eliminate ICE? Really?!

Most immigrants arrested by ICE have prior criminal convictions, a big change from 2009

If we are going to look at a government agency and see if we are getting a good return on the investment in that agency fine but lets look at all of them not just ICE becuse it's trendy to beat up on them right now.

While it is trendy to beat them up, it is just as trendy to make them out to be the single most important agency in the country. According to on thread on this forum, now even cities cannot be safe unless they are doing what ICE tells them to do.

And yet not a single person on this forum can tell me what they actually do, all I get is a link to their website, which has some great propaganda, but nothing to quantify what they do.
Doing either one is what blind partisans do all I'm saying is don't single ICE out just because it's the trend of he moment. If people want to have a real discussion about government waste and government agencies that have become irrelevant and no longer serve any real purpose fine like I said lets look at all of them.

I am not pushing for them to go away, just wanted to know how much people on either side knew about what ICE does...the answer is very little indeed.

If I could pick one agency to go away first it would be the Dept of Ed for sure

There you go again! There is no "Dept of Ed".

My God, you are the consummate dumbass!

There is no Department of Education?

Then why the hell are we paying DeVos so much damn money to run it?

You might want to get ahold of the webmaster of this site and let them know.... Home | U.S. Department of Education

Get a dictionary and look up the word “quantify”.
Go onto Google and find out there is no such thing as the Department of The Economy or Department of Finance before you lie - or expose your ignorance - again.

Well damn, fingers got ahead of the brain!

Sorry, meant to say Commerce and Treasury.

Thanks for the heads up!

ICE releases 19,723 criminal illegals, 208 convicted of murder, 900 of sex crimes

There is no comment from the Multnomah County Jail as to why he was released. Sometimes mistakes are made, when common names such as Martinez are in play they can be confused.

I agree, his record suggests he should not have been released, and I'm sure the jail administrator has investigated the release.

Since he has been deported 20 times, that also rings a bell. Why would he not be charged under 8 U.S. Code § 1325 (illegal entry by an alien)?

In CA, if he had a violent prior felony conviction, and has twice been deported, he could have been charged and sentenced to 25 years to life under the three strikes law.

8 U.S. Code § 1325 - Improper entry by alien

The original purpose for ICE was to track down people who entered on visas and didn't leave and who were potential terrorists, like the 9-11 hijackers, and if anyone is really interested that was not the only terrorist attack done by people who entered as students or something and attacked us while being here illegally overstaying visas. And I'm not so sure that just focusing on high tech skills to choose who gets to come here is really the best test.

But ICE as it originated could call on local cops who are as interested in stopping crimes as anyone. And deporting gang members probably appeals to local cops too. But when it comes to using resources to jail dishwashers and gardeners who got a dui ... well ICE is paying local sheriffs to keep people locked up

The immigration system is broken, and ICE is just one facet of the failure. Today ICE is just the topic dejour for both political edge groups.

“But when it comes to using resources to jail dishwashers and gardeners who got a dui ... well ICE is paying local sheriffs to keep people locked up”

Sooo, the Left and twisted politicians, many of whom are anchor babies and barely American get to decide how our laws are enforced?
They arbitrarily decide this shit?
Are there different levels of “illegal aliens”? A dishwasher or a gardener aren’t quite as illegal as a gang member?
Do you hear how retarded this all sounds?
You want your local sheriff to use local tax dollars to jail people who would be released for a crime they were arrested for if they were not undocumented, you are certainly free to pursue that politically.

But holding undocumented aliens costs local LE money, makes jails less safe, and puts the jails in legal peril. I'm sorry that doesn't fit with your chaffed LOSER ass.

ICE, 17 FL sheriffs announce new enforcement partnership

Some jails find the ICE money worth the effort. Some don't

You must have failed basic math...clearly you never studied Econ.
The arithmetic is simple...The cost to incarcerate filth in Mexifornia is $200 per day. That’s a smoking deal if it keeps the wetback from dropping just one anchor baby, keeps he/she from the emergency room, keeps he/she from driving uninsured, keeps he/she from enrolling one more silver tooth money tree in a public school...etc etc
Once in blue moon you twisted FuckTards have to view shit from a wider lens. Think once bud.

And..............if they cooperated with ICE they could hold them 48 hours if they suspect or know they are here illegal......Which would require to see if there was a Detainer on them............ICE would have 2 days to come and get them and process them...............

Sanctuary cities refuse to look at legal Detainer notices and ASSIST enforcing our immigration laws.

Many States and LE agencies assist ICE...............Sanctuary Cities...........don't...........It's not necessarily the LE's fault......as many would be glad to assist..........but the local politicians who don't care about deporting illegals..........

Hell 25% of all illegal farm labor work in California without going through the proper channels of the Dept. of Labor.

Easy is just taking the thread wherever he can.

But the issue is whether ICE is the most efficient way to move people from the country who need to be removed

When Trump decided that following the law and deporting people with due process was not the way he wanted to go and decided not to just hire more administrative judges to deport so that entire families and future DACA children could be sent back....

We've been using illegal aliens as farm labor since 1950 at least, with a wink and a nod. That's just another example of the immigration system being a clusterfuck

In the Omnibus spending package.........he requested more legal teams, aka Judges with staff to help speed up the LEGAL PROCESS.........He was only given a fraction of that.........

So I'd call your statement BOGUS.

Refusal to obey the laws of the Republic have been allowed too long....................There is a legal way to hire Agro workers under the Dept of Labor...........

Just because we have allowed this to go on for so long is no justification to Obey only the laws we agree with..............

Farmers can hire seasonal labor under the Depts. program.........but they'd have to pay registration fees, and comply with core housing and needs of the seasonal farmers..............cost them a little money which is exactly why they go around it.

It is LEGAL............NOT ILLEGAL.
