$300 for a styling and low lights is actually not as unusual or crazy as you may think. There are cheaper options of course but the quality usually won’t be there. Just a basic hair cut at a typical salon alone for women can easily be close to or at $100. I don’t think it’s necessarily hypocritical for AOC to push democratic socialism while also paying for a service that is typically expensive regardless. I think a borderline argument could be made that she should recognize the optics a little better of how it may be perceived to spend $300 on her hair considering how many people barely even have $300 in their bank account in which income disparity is something that she does talk about, but she would be criticized either way in my opinion.
